Hi guys, i had reserved few rooms for my vacation later in expedia.com.my

However noted from the credit card bills, the charged ammount is higher than the room rate
SMS notification rm3765, Expedia itinerary rm3756, bill in Credit card rm 3800
That is only one of the transaction.. i have few more, thus the total sum of extra charge is quite significant

Called bank (Standard Chartered bank MY), they mention the extra charge is due to Cross border Fee， as Expedia.com.my charged in Singapore Dollar
Called Expedia, they are very firm they charged in Malaysia rinngit, thus wont be cross border fee. (Yet from the Credit card bill, it's charged to expedia SG)


Anyway i have sent them a complaint email for the issue, any other authority i shall complaint this kind of issue? http://e-aduan.kpdnkk.gov.my/?

Last I book my Disneyland tickets, website charged in MYR, but somehow on the CC statement, it's HKD, so my ticket is actually few ringgit more than what they charged because of cross border fee.

From what I understand the cross border fee is levied by certain banks (such as CIMB) for transaction where the server is not located in Malaysia, even if the currency is denominated in MYR.

Damn I never check it. Booked a few flight tickets through Expedia also.

bank exchange rate and cross border charges

you can contact the bank cc to check.

just email up to expedia support.. that has been overcharge for cross border.. they will waive u back for the fees.

Ya learn the lesson, avoid using standard chartered bank for payment in expedia.

Called CS, talked for 40minutes, email them the card transactions detail, it is the 1% cross border fee charged by bank

Expedia agree to refund the amount, got back rm200..Anyway, I dont agree that such big company as expedia.com.my use singapore payment platform for transaction in ringgit malaysia

lesson: dont use scb and cimb card.

Only this two bank charge the cross border fees to customers.

No other bank does that apart from conversion and bank charges.

I normally use cimb prepaid card for online service

always use booking.com for booking rooms, etc. normally whatever that they charge on their website is the same in the cimb statement

damn, just came across this today. conjob. and book using cimb's so called "promo website"
