i've 4 dogs atm,and sometimes they can be quite noisy.
none of them have a license atm..

1 medium size(husky),3 toy dogs.(ckcs,2 Pomeranians),soon 1 more ckcs will arrive..

if my neighbours complain, can mbpj come and forcefully take my dogs away?

they remain in my house at all times(unless going for walks,in which i accompany them) so can the council people force their way into my house and take my dogs away?

how about if i have a license?
it's my understanding that only 2 dogs are allowed per household(or something like that) and so i cant buy license for all of my dogs.if i have 2 licenses for 2 dogs, can the others be taken away?
*
Well, I'm also against the rules... I have 3 dogs... used to have 4... anyway, the best is registering 2 under your address, and 2 someone elses... That's the best.

The license in a way is just a safety precaution when your dog accidentally strays away or so happen the authorities pass by your house.... they do not have the power to shoot the dogs unless they are aggressive.

As what I know, the local city council does not order their officers to go around gunning down dogs. Even if stray also they round them up with ropes and bring them to the local pound. SPCA is not a pound, it is a shelter.

Firstly, the council will only go to your house to see your dogs if you have a neighbour that complains. Once complains, the council will send an officer or 2 to have a look see and speak to you. A fine would than be given and also a warning for you to get rid of the dogs... normally a timespan in like a week or 2... if you fail to take away the extra dogs, they will give you another fine and warning.... if all fails, they will confiscate your dogs(rarely happens).... So if you do get a warning, best to take your dogs to a relatives place and let them hide out for about 2 weeks before bringing them back.

So far, this only happens when neighbours complain to local city council.

even when 1 dog barks also can be so noisy let alone 2 dogs... and if more than 2 dogs bark together then it can be 'disaster' lor... juz imagine what is ur neighbour feel la when the dogs make noise especially to those who live in terrace houses... unless u have big compound surrounding ur house then maybe the 'sound effect' wont be that much la... so need to think of surrounding people also la... we live in community right...? and one more thing... most law are made for reasons... juz my 2-cent...

normally when got people complaint they can get the warrant...
*
Yes, that is quite right. Why they limit the dogs is because there are many irresponsible people keeping not for pets but for watchdogs.... imagine 4 dogs barking outside, can pengsan LOL....

But another reason is the right space for dogs. The rule is not set by the council without research. Sometimes the compound is only suitable for 2 dogs but keeping four, the dogs can't really move about easily and may have a boring life without much space to play and explore.... so that is another reason bout the limit.

Register 2 at your house and the others use relatives house address...

Then use the execuse that they're boarding with you while your relatives are overseas  tongue.gif

That's what I do tongue.gif

in taiping there's a kind lady taking care of many stray dogs..i believe there are more than 100 dogs in her compound..

is there a license to apply?
*
No... coz her dogs are not in a housing estate but an empty land. Her place has no one staying but only her. The dogs are strays that are dumped at her doorstep and she has little money to keep every dog but she tries. She doesn't need a license coz she is doing a good cause, also not a housing estate and no neighbours to complain. If I live on a farm with no houses around me, what for have a license?

ic..dats my hometown..heard of the place near there is under construction, for a new giant hypermall or something.. <-- heard from ppl around taiping
sked later da MPT ppl go n kacau her or wat.
if not dunno where's she's gonna move d, wif so many dogs. my aunty visit her last time n she heard dat all da dogs can finish bout 1-2 big packets of kibbles per day. hv 2 mix wif something elz..
*
She needs about 20 t 30 bags of 15kg dogfood each month, and also many bags of rice.

Anyway, if she is required to move, then it will be hard for her.... for now, the land is loaned to her by the kind landlord... I think that is what I heard.... anyway, back to topic.... best to stay within the topic....

even if the dogs arent aggressive, and they still shoot the dogs,we cant say anything, can we?  vmad.gif

i've never heard of council members being charged with killing an innocent dog before in my life.
it's always "the dogs were violent,so we had to shoot them"-and they get away with it without any kind of investigation whatsoever doh.gif
that's what i feel is unfair.
they say max per house hold is 2/4 dogs.
they dont go into specifics and mention if that is for large/small breeds.
they just round all up as "dogs".

how can one compare a pomeranian to a st bernard?
*
Well, our council has not been very kind towards animals.... so killing an animal or pet, to them it is nothing.... they never realise that a pet is a family member to us... So best if we take precaution loh. So far the incident where 13 dogs were shot in the owners home, an investigation did take place but then the case died coz nobody followed up in the papers.

True about the size of dogs.... the rule they have not change for the past years.... last time people only keep mongrels or large breeds.... rarely small so to them, 2 dogs means medium or large breeds....

No... Selangor and KL will not shoot dogs.... sigh.... all think shoot coz the other states city council hire dog shooters... not animal control. In KL, DBKL is in charge and they never kill dogs if they see them stray. Round up, catch and bring to DBKL dog pound. The license is also needed coz easier to claim back dog if caught. Aggressive dogs is those that kill people.... now only those dogs they will shot by law.

Aiyah... as a dog owner, we must be responsible not to let our dogs become a problem to neighbours.... If a cat's meowing can drive us crazy, a dog's barking can drive others crazy as well so we must be considerate.

Also, the authorities will not straight away take the dogs.... only after 2nd warning and no action taken by owner then only can they take the dogs.... so be friends with your neighbour.... if you are not gonna be friends with them, then they can be evil and report bout your dogs.

DBKL doesn't put all dogs to sleep.... only the stray that are bitey or sickly are put to sleep. Those with collars or license or are friendly and healthy are then sent to the SPCA to see if can rehome from there. I have spoken to them already to get the real facts.... so this is not "I heard from someone" story....

may i know how2 apply license for dog?how much d cost?

shi tzu oso need license?i oweys put in d house

If you are in KL, go to DBKL, if you in PJ or SJ, get in touch with the local council and buy license.... I already put up the price, RM10 only.

All dogs should have license, don't care what breed, what size, what age.... as long you live in a neighbourhood community, it is responsible to get the license.

The best time to get dog license is during February and March.... after that, it could be either out of stock or some other excuse. So the best is getting early.

Anyway, dogs below 6 months won't be affected. The council will only take action if the dog is above 6 months old....

It is better to get a license lah but if still puppy, you don't need to worry yourself so much if it is below 6 months old.

hmm.. from what i heard is that the tiger/lions/ and crocs in the zoo are hungry, so they shoot em' to cover the cost of buying chicken everytime. in conclusion, they're being fed to fat crocs in zoo biggrin.gif
*
that's what alot of people say but not entirely true.... coz i worked in a zoo before. The animals at the zoo cannot simply eat animals that are killed off the streets since they can carry diseases, bacteria and viruses, if fed to the animals in the zoo, it could kill those animals which cost alot of amount of money. A tiger could be Rm10k... so will they risk giving something with unknown origin to an animal that expensive? The animals in the zoo gets chickens, rabbits, rats, beef and fish to the animals.... anyway, out of topic but these are facts.

I found out that in S'pore, all dogs or cats need license, whether u stay in aprtment or landed property.
And the price got 3 types, spayed/neutered, male, and female.
The female price is 3 of 4 times higher than the male or spayed/neutered catogory...... sial.........
*
Well, I think Malaysia should do that. Equal mah, both cat and dog can be a nuisance if too many in a household. Also, Singapore got strict rules on how many dogs and cats and what size of dog can be kept in an apartment. The license is higher for unspayed females is so that more people will have the urge and motivation to spay their females.... which is a good practice, so that more people won't simply breed dogs.

any similiar rule for houses?

If apartment, only small breeds can be kept. If houses, large dogs can be kept but the amount of dogs, I'm not sure.... But if you want, I can check later with a few of my friends who are in Singapore. So far they have 2 dogs each....

If I am not mistaken, the age limit is 4 months under the MPSJ council - that's what it said on the terms when I applied for my dogs' license la. This was two years - didn't read the terms when I renewed so not sure if it has been revised.
*
Oh? Maybe each council different.... well, better to get it early than be sorry later I guess.
