Am I still overpaying for this?? Since I'm upgraded from 30mbps to 50mbps during the Thank You Campaign, but now 30mbps plan RM139/month, can I get a reduction? Or the rm139 is only eligible for new subscriber only?? I have not received email or sms about the turbo yet in Puchong Utama area...

QUOTE(SilentVampire @ Sep 10 2018, 03:56 PM) Set it as WAN DNS on your router. Yup I currently checking the first page and doing price comparison... But I can't seem to find DIR 867 anywhere, I mean yes dlink.com.my have them, but couldn't find it in lelong, shopee or lazada...Change both your router and wireless adapter. Refer to 1st page, 1st post, green text. Claim up to 867Mbps maybe not. This is version 2 though, and it is quite old already, in terms of both hardware and firmware. The firmware has not been updated since 2016, and the latest version is v5. AP is fine for sure, as it does not do any form of routing, so won’t use the CPU intensely. You will get more than 100 if the router support 5GHz AC, just that wired won’t get more than 100 as it is only FE, and not GbE. This post has been edited by cwk0713: Sep 10 2018, 04:05 PM |

PROLiNK router any good? Anyone use them before?
This router PROLiNK PRC3801 specifically, for 500mbps. (Already checked the first page, looking for other brands outside TP or D link and ASUS with firmware that supported local ISP and UnifiTV) This post has been edited by cwk0713: Sep 12 2018, 02:33 PM |

Between TP Link Archer C7 V2 Rm350 (without MU-MIMO), Tenda AC15 RM258.99 (without MU-MIMO), Tenda AC18 RM275.99 (without MU-MIMO), D Link DIR-859 Rm 348.66 (with MU-MIMO) and PROLiNK PRC3801 RM239 (with MU-MIMO).
Is MU-MIMO a must nowadays? I got 8 devices in the house, 5 smartphones (2 heavy streaming and gaming) , 2 PC (download movies/series and gaming mostly) and 1 IPad (streaming mostly), mostly download or stream 480p and 720p, maybe few 1080p sometimes, but never download or stream 4k. 500mbps turbo speed but if I can achieve 350mbps through wifi I'm happy! So, do I need MU-MIMO router? This post has been edited by cwk0713: Sep 12 2018, 05:19 PM |

QUOTE(SilentVampire @ Sep 12 2018, 05:34 PM) No. MU-MIMO only works if your device supports MU-MIMO. I would suggest TP-Link archer C7 v5 or v4 for that, or even Asus, to support 500Mbps. I can only find V2 version, and most of the website didn't even state the version... How do you find newer version? I tried shopee, lelong and lazada... |

QUOTE(SilentVampire @ Sep 12 2018, 05:46 PM) Here: https://www.lazada.com.my/products/tp-link-...38cewoUZPw&mp=1 That's where I found the V2 on ookas shopee... okay thanks~Get it from OOKAS. It is guaranteed to be the latest version, although they put it at V2, but it is V4 or V5 now. Not sure about other sellers. This post has been edited by cwk0713: Sep 12 2018, 05:51 PM |

QUOTE(dragna @ Sep 12 2018, 05:47 PM) The FW on Tenda AC18 is quite straight forward, what seems to be the problems for Unifi you speak of? How's your 5ghz wifi signal from the furthest point from your router in your house? My router on ground floor living room, my PC got 4 bar on first floor at the back of the house, but my phone only got 3 bar, most of the time my phone keep dc especially when I'm pubg-ing using 5ghz... Though I'm using AC6... So I'm a bit skeptical about getting a new Tenda... How's your experience?I'm on 800Mbps and using it as my main router for about 10 days now with no downtime, very stable. I'd say for an average home user the price tag of <RM300 it's quite a bargain. This post has been edited by cwk0713: Sep 12 2018, 06:01 PM |

I narrowed down my final options for mid-budget, between
DIR-878 (MU MIMO and advanced smart beam, whatever that is) RM 450, DIR-880L (3 high gain antennas and 3 power amplifiers, whatever that is) RM 489, and TP-Link Archer C9 RM 478... I rather have better/stable connection and signal instead of focusing on achieving full speed (60-80% wifi speed from 500mbps is more than enough)!! Which one better? I don't know their hardware version, but I assumed ookas will have the latest... This post has been edited by cwk0713: Sep 13 2018, 10:05 PM |
