Mostly got info here about TPLink AC1200 / Archer and DLink 850L which is given  out. But there is also DLink DIR-842. Is this same or any better than those others?
*
This is equal to the DIR850L. Bottom line, all TM issued stock router is crap. Get your own.

Is TM giving rev A1 or rev C1 for the dir-842? If rev C1 it's not too bad, got mu-mimo.
*
Not sure, should be C1.

rclxs0.gif Very true mate..

Understand quite a lot people received Nokia ONU as a replacement. Does it act as a router or modem? Can it support POE.

I might request them to change it, if all credential possible to configure in optical modem over router. Easily for me to manage ubiquiti AP router
*
It is not a modem, but a BTU.

QUOTE(x3BabyLemon @ Aug 17 2018, 01:48 PM)
really crap like hell after installation i terus change to asus router
*
I lost mine after installation, and have never bothered about it.

How long after account overdue baru kena potong line?
*
A month after the bill is due. If it is just a few days overdue, it should be okay.

QUOTE(jusbella @ Aug 17 2018, 02:01 PM)
LOL until now, anyone know what is VLAN ID for Celcom fibre?
*
They should not have any VLAN ID, unlike Unifi and Maxis.

Yes am using WiFi. Did have my HTPC attached to it for a while but it's now a stand alone PC using a usb WiFi dongle to connect to the unifi. Speed test on my iPad only reach speeds of 25 Mbps.
I'm looking for a replacement router that will handle the turbo upgrade and that is dual band 2.4/5 GHz. Any ideas?
*
How big is your house and your budget? If you want something affordable, TP-Link Archer C7 v4 at least. If you have a bigger house and a bigger budget, go for Asus.

Are u sure? they using TM backbone too for some area.

TM also need to open LAN port for their modem. If no need then its should be like Time Fibre.
*
I am not sure, but I don’t think they do have a VLAN, unless someone else can contradict me.

am i right to assume that if i'm getting the turbo, they'll change my fiberhome modem? i just checked my router, it says it is connected to the modem @ 100mbps only.. and i thought my fiberhome is gigabit ready.. lol
*
Yes, they will change it. Most important is your router and your devices, and can they support the turbo speed.

I think my router is the rg innatech or rg maritime.

Probably innatech. Not sure.
*
There is 2.4 and 5GHz on the Innatech, but that is a real bad router which is old, and I would change it, if I were you.

Yeah. Been planning to change it.

Is Tenda router good? Price seems cheaper than other brands.
*
It is okay, but firmware is not that good. If you want to ensure you can readily support the turbo speed upgrade and want something decent, go for the TP-Link Archer C7 v4 at least.

Haha, I only recommend the router I think is the best for price and stability. Thank you for trusting my recommendation. Hope you got the v4.

QUOTE(cucubud @ Aug 18 2018, 11:29 AM)
Between the RG4400 and the DIR-850L, which one is better?
Both also got Gigabit LAN ports and WiFi speed can reach 780Mbps on 5Ghz.
*
RG4400. But, I would recommend you switch to the Archer C7 v4, if you want something more stable, and that can support 800Mbps on 5GHz.

QUOTE(mztang52 @ Aug 18 2018, 12:07 PM)
I would opt for RG4400. DIR850L is really a trashcan for me. But yet the worst TM router I have ever used is the Archer C1200.
*
Can’t agree more. I have lost the DIR850L, and the C1200 v1 is just horrible. V3, which is the newest one in the market, is okay.

DIR-850L for me. Superb range(like seriously , router is upstairs , I go down nextdoor to my neightboor still got signal ) and I always get full speed.

also there's this post on reddit : https://www.reddit.com/r/malaysia/comments/...scended/e46hw4o

this guys claims he gets full 800mbps on DIR-850L.
*
Lol. It is true that you can get 800Mbps on DIR-850L, and if your house is standard size, or a condo, it is good. But, if you have a slightly bigger house, or want better 5GHz coverage, forget it. He can get full 800Mbps on DIR-850L as his house is probably smaller, or he have a wired connection. Otherwise, forget it.

Superb range? Not at all. At most, it is normal. Try the TP-Link C3150 v2, or Asus RT-AC86U. Both of that has the proper superb range.

Lol friend, it has nothing to do with being rich or not, just trying to inform you. And I have the TP Link C3150, but not the Asus RT-AC86U, and the reason I know about the premium routers are that I read reviews and other people’s opinions of it.

My experience with the 850L, coverage is okay la, most spots in the house can still get some signal, but speed is  doh.gif
Stability is the main problem, streaming stutter, youtube buffering slow sometimes and etc  sad.gif
I've only tried testing wifi-sweetspot app on my phone standing beside the router, maximum throughput is around 450Mbps on 5GHz. just my 2cents.
*
Get the TP-Link Archer C7 v4, or the Asus RT-AC1300UHP if you want something better. No streaming and buffering anymore.

Thank you very much for your replies.
I have both routers and I find that both are equally good to my standard.
Both LAN ports are able to connect to my pc on Gigabit and WiFi to my laptop on 780Mbps.
My router is located upstairs family hall in a double storey house.
WiFi signal is weaker in the kitchen located at the back of the house.

If I were to make one unit as an AP. Which one should be the main router and which one should be the AP?
*
Whichever doesn’t make a difference, but main router should be the DIR-850L.

You need to understand that your experience using and/or reading about the 850L or C1200 is not even the average of how the routers are perceived by all its users.
How many of these routers are deployed in just Malaysia and out of all its users, how many are members of this forum or even bothered to complain about them online?
*
Fair enough. Thank you for the advice. You are right.

Is TP-LINK Archer D7 compatible with Unifi? How do I use it?
*
Not compatible, as it does not support VLAN tagging. You can still use it if you have a switch that support VLAN tagging though. See here: https://www.blacktubi.com/guide/make-any-ro...-work-on-unifi/

Alright, but I'm using Unifi Lite 10Mbps so I don't have HyppTV Box so i'm not too worried that. I'll give it a try because the D-Link DIR-850L modem is really annoying me compared to the Archer D7 before upgrading to unifi.
*
Honestly, just get the TP Link Archer C7 v4. It is much newer and better than the D7.

What about the new DLink DR842 router?
Low cost no frill MU-MIMO router.
*
It is not too bad but firmware is slightly older, but still usable. You can consider that.

QUOTE(KaizokuLuffy @ Aug 18 2018, 09:28 PM)
any different between Asus RT-AC1300UHP and Asus AC58u ?
*
Asus RT-AC1300UHP is newer, with more RAM as well as has wider wireless coverage, plus it has range extender mode and media bridge mode, both which Asus RT-AC58U does not have. I would recommend the Asus RT-AC1300UHP.
