Hi all, my house newly renovate due to some reason I only manage to install one 2.5hp aircond in my living hall, however it seem like the aircond unable to cover the, only near to the dining area can feel the cold air, sofa area totally can’t feel anything. My living hall size is 20x26ft. Any suggestion to circulate the cold air?

Switch on the fan.
Direct blow cold air on body is not healthy anyway. Indirect cooling is better. If you still want directed cold air, put a stand fan |

QUOTE(tangwp @ Aug 6 2018, 09:31 PM) You need to provide us the floor plan to see your ground floor shape and size. Otherwise very hard to see how your aircon best placement. From this pic, that wall beside the staircase is the best place for aircon to cover both dining and living hall. Or a ceiling type of aircon. ![]() |

QUOTE(tangwp @ Aug 7 2018, 08:02 PM) Here is my floor plan. Just the living hall, require over 23000btu aircon. That is about 3hp aircon.Blue colour is my living hall and dining area Rea colour is my Aircond locate Green colour is celling fan locate. You can 1) use the CASSETTE type (ceiling) aircon which cover 360° of the living hall 2) a 2hp with ceiling fan to circulate the cool air You can place direct ontop the TV area wall for not the CASSETTE type. It provide a direct cool air blow to sofa area and the window glass side. Leave the 2.5hp on the dining area if you don't want to shift it. * Mitsubishi have certain model that have the feature of wide and long air flow. ![]() This post has been edited by ozak: Aug 8 2018, 11:34 AM |

I would like to try use fan to circulate the air in the area. Btw what is the correct direction for the ceiling fan air circulation. Clockwise/ anti clockwise? |

My living hall size is 20x26ft. Any suggestion to circulate the cold air? 1stly of coz you had already know, the aircond location are not correct, by this location, you may still had a bit feel when the whole area is fill up by cold air but that will take you a very long time. you dont really need to cover the staircases coz hot air go up and cold air go down usuallyso solve it, may be you need to consider to relocate the aircond to front area facing to dining / living, that will give u better cold air in living and by helping of the living hall fan will able to transfer some to dining hall. |

You can consider try using dyson air multiplier (or maybe a knock off one from China). It doesn’t work well at normal room temperature without air conditioning. But if the air conditioner is on, it works quite well redirecting the cold air.

Actually i also have similar problem where to put my indoor unit. It's an open concept dining - living and I do not want my kitchen to be air conditioned. Both living and dining has its own ceiling fan but aircond in the living area is a must.
There are two options 1 and 2 ![]() Cassette unit is not an option. |

QUOTE(tangwp @ Aug 10 2018, 12:47 PM) like that definitely wont reach the sofa area, unless you put a fan at the side to blow air to sofa.you can install another aircond beside the curtain. if u could show the other side of the hall would be better. |

QUOTE(tangwp @ Aug 10 2018, 12:47 PM) Not sure why you follow the contractor suggest to put the aircon in the dinning area. Since you plan to dinning at that area.It is pretty bad idea unless the aircon is far abit and smaller hp. Your food cold down fast even before eat and can't enjoy a long dinning. |

May I suggest you get a unit of air cooler... to circulate the air to the tv area.
http://www.sec.com.my/morgan-air-cooler this is the cheapest solution.. Or add 1 more 1hp aircond above the TV. Or move the existing aircond to above tv... then use standfan for the dining area... |

This is a bit out there but......
Make a plastic casing/louver that hangs right in front of the AC outlet, diverting air to the right. I did a flat piece for my AC to divert airflow to the ground because I dont like AC to my face. 1. You have to be creative and design the thing. 2. Any advertising shop (the ones that make billboards) can make anything using glue and transparent plastic. Think custom made cooker exhaust like char kwey teow stall. 3. Hang it with reverse 3M plastic wall hooks (assuming York design has somewhere to latch the hook. 4. It has to be detachable for AC servicing. 5. there will be condensation so dont allow any water collection areas. Im sorry. Its weird but itlll work. |
