Hi all, my house newly renovate due to some reason I only manage to install one 2.5hp aircond in my living hall, however it seem like the aircond unable to cover the, only near to the dining area can feel the cold air, sofa area totally can’t feel anything. My living hall size is 20x26ft. Any suggestion to circulate the cold air?

Switch on the fan.
Direct blow cold air on body is not healthy anyway.
Indirect cooling is better.

If you still want directed cold air, put a stand fan

I did buy a curtain to cover the staircase area, should I leave it open while turn on the aircond?

i also have a long space like that - living, dining and open kitchen
i got two aircon units, one 1hp at the dining and one 1.5hp at the living area

surprisingly the 1hp is cooler feeling that the 1.5hp when i am sitting on my sofa watching tv.

The 1hp is York cooling king and the 1.5hp is Panasonic Econavi?

You need to provide us the floor plan to see your ground floor shape and size. Otherwise very hard to see how your aircon best placement.

From this pic, that wall beside the staircase is the best place for aircon to cover both dining and living hall.

Or a ceiling type of aircon.

Here is my floor plan.
Blue colour is my living hall and dining area
Rea colour is my Aircond locate
Green colour is celling fan locate.

Just the living hall, require over 23000btu aircon. That is about 3hp aircon.

You can

1) use the CASSETTE type (ceiling) aircon which cover 360° of the living hall
2) a 2hp with ceiling fan to circulate the cool air

You can place direct ontop the TV area wall for not the CASSETTE type. It provide a direct cool air blow to sofa area and the window glass side.

Leave the 2.5hp on the dining area if you don't want to shift it.

* Mitsubishi have certain model that have the feature of wide and long air flow.

Initially it have a aircond point on the tv console area, however due to interior design we decide to seal the aircond piping. The contractor said it’s ok to just install a 2.5hp on the dining area and it won’t affect much.
But after I move in I realize the 2.5hp can cover my whole area, cassette aircond require lower plaster ceiling, that’s why I didn’t go for that option.
I would like to try use fan to circulate the air in the area. Btw what is the correct direction for the ceiling fan air circulation. Clockwise/ anti clockwise?

Have you adjust the airflow louvre permanently to the right?

Let me make a wild guess
U bought ur sofa set and dining table + chairs from couch design?

wrong installation place. that large area needs to use CASSETTE type. use YORK or DAIKIN for fast cooling. need to close loop hole otherwise still not feel cool. hall no need to use inverter type. waste more energy.

1stly of coz you had already know, the aircond location are not correct, by this location, you may still had a bit feel when the whole area is fill up by cold air but that will take you a very long time. you dont really need to cover the staircases coz hot air go up and cold air go down usually

so solve it, may be you need to consider to relocate the aircond to front area facing to dining / living, that will give u better cold air in living and by helping of the living hall fan will able to transfer some to dining hall.

Buy a casette unit

You can consider try using dyson air multiplier (or maybe a knock off one from China). It doesn’t work well at normal room temperature without air conditioning. But if the air conditioner is on, it works quite well redirecting the cold air.

Interesting, what it does actually?

A better looking or overrated stand fan, some would say, that would match your modern looking living room.

This is a good idea also. It suck the cold air from dining hall where the aircon is.
