My mechanic once told me to be very careful of the temperature. If overheated , the engine block is made of aluminium and it will be disfigured , even u do overhaul also still will hv overheating issues. Hv to change the whole engine

Just done repairing IAFM unit, I’m not sure what my foreman did, he say he do some modification , no more tak tak sound and air leaking sound. Engine become smoother and more power at low speeds.

Hi guys got some questions.

I just replaced suspension parts(absorber, mounting) but my car still has clunking noise(dub dub dub sound) on the front when passing through rough road/uneven road/pot hole. What could it be? Tie rod? Ball joint? Bearing? Car on 230k km now.
*
The mechanic didnt suggest to change the tie rod ball joints and the arms also? usually change all together right...

Tell the foreman the there is sound and edi change what components previously, a good foreman will solve ur prob. Probably they will ask to change joints and bushes.

thanks, but I think it just prevents the car from dropping too much during compression stage.

Worth trying tho, will give it a try next time
Just to update everyone:
Just spent around RM700 (RM140 top set+560 labour) for top overhaul of my Proton Persona.

I had queried earlier on the reasoning why my coolant levels kept decreasing (every 2 weeks top up 1L, been doing that for years). Finally know its because of head gasket leak, it wasn't obvious as my engine oil color was still normal. But foreman said last time he guessed that the coolant was being sucked into exhaust but could not give a confirmation. He recommended me to just keep topping up water since its been ongoing for years.

What caused the nail in the coffin was me flushing radiator/coolant (using radiator flush bought from auto shop). I guess when it cleared all the rust and stuffs, maybe a hole was opened bigger or something.

Radiator coolant ran dry just after topping up and driving for 1 hour+, this time it seeped into my engine oil and it turned milky. Engine overheated and couldn't start engine afterwards, thank god it died infront of my trusty workshop if not more $$ spent on towing. Only 3 cylinders was working and it was misfiring like hell before it died.
*
I tot cat insurance provide free towing ? How old is ur car? Ur engine overheated before? That’s why head gasket burst ?

if do radiator pressure test and coolant still disappearing, very likely is head gasket issue
*
u always check ur coolant? u check on which part? by opening the pressurized radiator cap on top of the radiator right

hello, i seldom ask and surf LYN, i am sorry if i posted the wrong place,

my 2014 persona has some weird problems recently

first, my rear bonnet has no alarm connected, when alarm armed but the bonnet can open without trigger alarm. And the bonnet light is not working as well, but i couldn't find any fuses or cable loses, but the bulb is absolutely working.

second, my engine bonnet trigger switch is not connected, i wonder if proton guy disconnected it, but when i plugged it, it doesn't function as well

third is the most serious happen recently, the alarm triggered when heavy rain, and i just don't know how to trouble shoot it.

i just wonder if someone had this problem before and share with me before i sending it to workshop

thank you guys
*
My alarm also triggered during heavy rain , I can’t find the source of it too.

So guys, after I changed all engine mounting, the car is quiet like new!
However, I can feel vibration when aircond compressor kicks in, obvious especially idling.

Is there any mounting/bush that can be changed to fix this?
*
my foreman told me no way u can reduce the aircond vibration, when the car first come also I can feel it already. Its the design problem.

even after I changed to new mounting, still same vibration I can feel it, its from the aircond.

Used to be a lot more cheaper. But ever since no new model using IAFM, proton reduced production quantity and cost went up.

Since you using a new unit, you can bring it to Zordaq and have them do a small mod to prevent the rattle from happening in future.

Otherwise you can opt for OEM IAFM next time,  which selling around old price of 250-300 on shopee or lazada.

I personally advocate a visit to Zordaq.
*
I had this issue 3 years ago, my foreman took out the IAFM and modified something which I dont know whats that. Luckily no need to spend that much replacing it with a new 1, still running good after 3 years.

Just a quick question, my passenger windows are all having issues going down on its own, need to push it down while pressing the button. Driver side no issue (rarely use passenger windows cause i drive alone) do you know what part to fix for this?
Driver side lock doesn't pop up fully so have to manually unlock the car, is this the door centre lock issue?
*
i experienced such issue also, i thought the motor rosak, i went to my foreman, he check the motor still ok, the he help to take out the glass and clean it, clean the surroundings, clean the rubbers, apply some lubrication oil and after that ok already.

Part arrived this evening.

Replaced main switch seems to fix passenger side window. Now it works better. Although I do think the power window still need replacing.

Now for the funny part. The driver side window actually nothing really wrong. There are two minor problems: wiring problem and installation problem. The wire carrying power for the power window was found dislodged from the socket, and the grounding wire on the window was loose. Grounding wire also found itself somehow lodged into the moving mechanism of the power window regulator, probably because of the loose screw holding it.

As for installation problem, the power window regulator was missing one screw. This makes the regulator moved up and down from its position causing so many problems. After digging up some box of screws leftover, found a 10mm screw that fit, problem fixed. Found that most of the screws holding the regulator was loose too.

Lesson here is: don't let clowns fix your car if you can fix it yourself. And make sure what is the main problem is before ordering parts. So, that about 70 ringgit down the drain. In fact, I feel quite stupid today.

Oh, on side note, for main power window switch, please get original proton. These aftermarket part not worth it, poor quality.
*
Wow u hv the skills to do it. Yes definitely we need to find a good foreman, some not only can’t fix the problem but creating more problems.
