they are not preventing from using your mastercard if you don't have an account.

hope it wasn't due to DCC.

looks like you need a +65 number in order to register. but it doesn't stop you from using your mastercard.

maybe in the future they will allow non +65 number. or you could get a prepaid sim card

the merchants do the conversion using their lousy rates instead of mastercard and bill you directly in RM.

wonder if the banks will pressure BP to take action and crack down...

please read carefully. i said deposit account, total of 5k. not in one shot of course. specifically to disprove your out of cash theory.
