That day I also bought economy flight which I was told not entitled any big point under AA, but you will still get big point for big pay spending RM20=1BP.

Hi, would like to seek clarification whether Amazon USA accepts bigpay cards?
And also for books rental via Amazon USA, they specifically mentioned about the need of credit card information for in case the book is not returned, they can charge to the card. Are debit cards or bigpay cards applicable in this matter?

Thanks smile.gif

Hi, just reporting back from USA. I've been using bigpay card for literally every single transaction in any Mart/market(Walmart, Kroger, target, Dicks) as well as any tourist attractions for the past one month and there was not a single issue with bigpay at all. I just have to carry one card out for any purchase everywhere here

Have you found the withdrawal exchange rate ?
*
You could always check the rates on the MasterCard website (put 0% as merchant fee) and you'll get the final amount. Do take note that certain ATM charges an additional fee for overseas card withdrawal on top of bigpay's rm10.

For example, I'm currently withdrawing money from bigpay every month in USA to pay my rent(I have someone in Malaysia to topup to my bigpay card in Malaysia). I am charged additional $3 USD by the bank on top of rm10 charged by bigpay so it will end up around additional ~rm23 charge per withdrawal and there's a limit of $500 per withdrawal. Hence the final exchange rate is about rm4.182/USD on 2nd oct ( rm2091 / usd500). However, the rate is still cheaper than having to transfer from Maybank2u/cimb to a local bank account via FTT (last checked, Maybank2u rate was 4.196 and cimbclicks 4.22x)

hi bbhing98,

What bank the ATM you withdraw belongs to?
Is all ATM in US having limit of dispense capped at USD $500 per withdrawal?
Is the USD $3 fee also fixed for all ATM in US for oversea card withdrawal?

Thanks for the information, will be posted on #01.

Not all bank charges the same rate for cash withdrawal for overseas card.
I'm using ATM from PNC bank, and it charges $3 PER WITHDRAWAL on top of rm10 charged by bigpay, and maximum amount per withdrawal is $500.
I tried another ATM from Clear Mountain Bank, it charges $3.50 PER WITHDRAWAL + RM10 by bigpay, max amount per withdrawal is $400.
Havent try any other bank other than the two mentioned

for day to day usage in USA, i always use my card to swipe for the best rate, unless i have to withdraw cash to pay for something(the conversion rate becomes higher after considering all the additional charges).
99.9% of the shops/grocery store/mall accepts card payment

Regarding the forex rate on MasterCard website, it's not entirely correct, because unlike normal debit/credit cards issued by banks, BigPay doesn't tell us the posting date of our transactions, so there is no way we can check and tally the forex rate of our transactions with MasterCard rate.

i believe the fluctuation of forex rate is minimal and negligible lol. you only refer to that rate to get an approximate amount charged after conversion

I think it's a good idea as for users who actually based long term at oversea like children who study oversea and using BP and need not to allocate a phone (or a sim slot) for Malaysia telco.

Anyway, if BP happens to expand to oversea in near future, unsure how the application works, like if I were in SG, can I apply another sg- BP dominated in SGD. Future queries, no answer required. smile.gif

It would be much more feasible to use BigPay oversea if we can receive the OTP through the app, I usually switch to another sim card when oversea so can't receive OTP
*
FYI, if you're based long term overseas like me, you could actually change your mobile number in the bigpay app to your overseas number and you'll be able to receive OTP via sms in your overseas sim card. This is useful for making online purchases with bigpay card. When you're back in Malaysia you can easily switch your number back to Malaysia number.

Sos: been there done that

Update: I realize different ATMs here in USA has different limit on the amount of cash dispensed. In my uni, there's 2 ATMs(both PNC bank), one which dispense only 25 notes and another which dispenses 40 notes. all the ATM's that i've been to so far, they only dispense $20 cash notes, hence 40 notes is $800. thus it becomes much cheaper if I am to withdraw the maximum amount allowed to even out the rm10 charge by bigpay and $3 charge by the ATM issuing bank.

to confirm few things, as I about to use this card in overseas:

-the limit to withdraw is 3k each time? so RM 6 will be charge each time of the withdrawal? e.g. if one to withdraw 6K, he will be charged RM 12?
-do we need to call Big pay for overseas travelling to avoid disruption in using the card?
-we can reload the card using credit card without extra charge as of now?
-For claim purposes, is it possible to print statement using Big Pay apps, or is there any such thing about statement in Big Pay
-I can't recall I ever set the pin number for ATM withdrawal. is it the same pin as in the Big Pay apps?
*
there is no withdrawal limit imposed by bigpay. it solely depends on the limit on the amount of number of notes the ATM machine you used can dispense. In USA some ATM has 40 notes * $20 (total $800) so i was deducted rm3.3k++ when i tried to withdraw the maximum which is $800. remember to always withdraw the maximum amount you are allowed for each withdrawal to reduce the average withdrawal rate(including withdrawal fee imposed by bigpay & the atm you used).
