It's been several months cloudfare release 1.1.1.1.
After using it several months, I feel that it's getting slower. Is it just me? hmm.gif
Which do you prefer? google 8.8.8.8 dns or cloudfare 1.1.1.1 dns?

It's depend to your surfing behaviors...
1.1.1.1 is faster to get response from DNS hence it'll faster loaded websites but subjects to those hosted in APNIC regionals.

So if you more using USA sites, then 8.8.4.4 is still faster than 8.8.8.8

But for me, I'll using 1.9.1.9 and 1.1.1.1 after tested with JumperDNS.

There have been a few teething issues with 1.1.1.1, and it is not entirely Cloudflare's fault as that particular IP address have been used as a private IP address, when it shouldn't be, and for a whole various other stuff as well, by other networking vendors and companies that should have known better. See here: https://blog.cloudflare.com/fixing-reachabi...1-1-1-globally/

For now, it is better to use Google 8.8.8.8, but I personally used OpenDNS and have not had any problems so far.

Use your router. That'll always be the fastest since it's physically closer. Most routers cache DNS requests. The first will come from the internet and thereafter from the router.

I haven't use 1.1.1.1 yet. Currently using Google and Opendns in my router.

I been having issues with Cloudflare or sometimes Google DNS, mostly just connectivity issues for them off and on to sites like Facebook and Instagram, like pictures won't load, or it takes a long time

But when I switch to OpenDNS, everything back to normal, which I found weird..

Done,Based on this picture Cloudfare AVG latency is 1ms+ higher than Google DNS,but have a lower Peak latency.
Meanwhile Google DNS AVG Letency is 1ms lower and more consistent, but have a higher peak latency

use both. Cyberjaya actually far from the main backbones of the internet.

run the DNS benchmark, between cloudfare and google DNS, put the faster one first.
On my router i can have many DNS servers, heres how i decide mine.
First 2 DNS servers are openDNS (i use some settings).
Then the next 4 DNS are both google and cloudfare.
I Use the DNS benchmark to sort which IPs go first between openDNS 2 entries and the next 4 entries.

TM seems to have improved their infra but they still only have 1 PPPOE gateway per large area and that will be the main cause of problems for them. ISPs with multiple PPPOE gateways per area will have less issues because if you have a router like mikrotik you can connect to multiple simultaneously and it will use the faster one automatically, and for normal users, their routers will connect to whichever gateway responds the fastest. Very few ISPs around the world actually implement this and it requires no special config, only for more gateways to be available on the layer 2 network.

yup, normally you wouldn't notice it.
but it'll decide good routes or poor routes to access the websites... eg some will bring you to HK/JP then come back MY/SG sites.
