Hi all,

I recently purchased a XiaoMi Mi8 phone, it's China ROM. Everything is fine except the GPS signal is weak (totally not connectable) when I'm indoor. This is obvious to me as I play Pokemon GO.
I was using another low-end phone previously, and it works fine in door.

I was wondering is the China ROM is to blame for the indoor GPS problem? Do anyone has any similar experience and found a solution? sad.gif

to me that is general Android problem with their GPS if you compare with iOS which can locate the GPS much faster.

indoor don't have GPS signal la. when you are indoor phone usually use wifi signal to determine your location. did you enable it? it is under Wi-Fi >> Advanced settings >> Scanning always available.

GPS does not work indoor(inside shopping mall for example).

Been using Samsung, Apple, Xiaomi and Huawei, sometimes GPS will loss signal for no reason.

If you are using Umobile then change it. Umobile is known to cause problem with GPS in Xiaomi phone

I am using Mi 8 local warranty set.
Sorry to say no such GPS issue and I could lock in GPS within 15 sec and accuracy is up to 4~8 meters.

Maybe you should try to send the phone back for RMA.

That day wanted to buy a Xiaomi max 3. Currently not available in malaysia.
The shop guy tells me that China tom bad gps and almost doesn't connect. Global rom has a bit of problem but works better.

Was I taken for a ride?
