Thanks for the suggestion! That sounds like a good price based on my surveys so far. Will consider this.

For now I'm thinking of just getting a single port adapter from Anker until I confirm the most suitable hub... but this looks like a good find. How long have you been using it?

I actually just received my mbp today so will only start to be using it these few days. sweat.gif Will update here if its good buy or nah

pretty surprise to see that the charger doesn't have the two ends to bundle the cable anymore.

What does it mean? U mean the 2018 MBP does not have separate cable and charging brick but all-in-one like 2015 rMBP?
*
This one. Have been doing so for the past 7-8 years for my mbp no issue for me.

mine 2017 model is separate cable and power brick.

Same for the new mbp. I thought they would still have some kind of that feature so we can still keep it neat when we do not need to utilize the full length of the cable.

Just wondering, will the price of the MacBook goes up after SST is back? Thinking whether to get one now or wait for some sort of promotions from the retailer
*
The only reason why I chose to replace my old MBP despite my old MBP is still working well. Considering the age of it I am worried that it would suddenly become brick and so the change.

Should be ok given Apple's product quality. Many have used the macbook for more than 5 years.

I may consider to upgrade during the next major redesign on hardware though haha.
*
Yea, it still work fine now other than the battery lasting for less than 20 minutes. Using it like a desktop now. Considering such a heavy usage for the past 7-8 years it's still running strong. I actually did a test yesterday comparing to my new MBP. Startup and shutdown time, diff is just few seconds. But of course I have replaced my old MBP with SSD.

yes I suppose so. I am actually thinking should I sell it or not. Considering the fact that it would still serve pretty well for normal usage.

Bought Macbook pro for my son. Supposed to receive today but the status "An Import license is missing and is required for clearance."

Anyone encountered this before?

Not to comment on whether Crusader is rich/not rich which is not of my interest. But would like to know how you come to this conclusion based on a few sentences over the internet blink.gif

Using a 2018 MBP and 2 weeks ago, out of sudden while I was using it the screen just got into black screen. However when i connect to external monitor it works normally (in display preference, I could no longer find my MBP screen anymore)

Tried out resetting PRAM, SMC etc but none of it works. Did a hardware diagnosis and it's VFD001 error (There may be an issue with the display)

Highly suspecting it's the flexgate issue. Found out that Apple only do free replacement for 2016 models.

Machine is telling me RM20xx to do the screen replacement! Have anyone faced similar issue with 2018 MBP? I have no AppleCare and warranty has just passed 2 months ago!

Contact Apple directly instead of going thru all the third parties.

Can we actually directly bring it to Apple Malaysia @ Menara CIMB?

Is there a service centre / technican there that able to advise?

Brought my 2018MBP with screen display issue to service centre and they can almost confirm it's the Flexgate issue. Afterall Apple couldn't solve their design flaw. Worse that it's not covered under the free repair programme.

My main worry now is after replacing it now paying from my own pocket, I will have the same problem next year and replacing it once will cost me more than RM2k.

For those who are thinking to buy the new MBP, think properly. I bought it expecting my MBP to function for next 3 years at least like my old MBP.

Think is time for me to ditch Apple notebook and go for other option.

macbook -> it is important to get applecare+. At least for 3 years without worry.
After 3 years, it is old and time to get new unit. With so many issue posted by people in the forum, it is better than sorry later.
*
but my way of thinking is, apple product would have good quality control so the chance of getting defect unit is not that high, therefore i'm not getting the AppleCare+ given the extra cost as well.

my previous experience with apple product with the original macbook to mbp were both very positive which had lasted me over the past 10 years. now that the MBP is so expensive compared to other laptop out there, i wouldn't be expecting this to happen actually. given that there's so many issue with the newly design mbp now, it doesn't justify why should i be continuing to use MBP anymore.

thinking about it, if i'm going to replace the display now, i would still having the same problem in another year or so since the problem is rooted in the design itself. i know some people is actually arguing that the problem is because wear and tear, but to me it's not definitely wear and tear. when i buy laptop I expect that i would able to close and open the screen for lots of time and I am pretty sure my usage now is very minimal compared to others since most of the time my MBP is acting like a CPU connected to external display.

or maybe in other words, i'm not that loaded to maintain the MBP after paying almost 9.5k for it
