Want to ask, how much are you paying for your babysitter?
Some are charging RM1000-RM1400 in KL area (day only not overnight)
I believe overnight will be extra RM300-RM500

Baby 6 months onward need extra RM50-RM100 for solid food?

How much do you think is reasonable?

This crazy. baby eat RM 50 monthly??? You already provide them milk, the baby only eat puree. 1 simple spoon of rice enough to make 1 bowl, unless your baby eats a lot. Even that does not justify the need for RM 50 - RM 100.

Agree, effort cannot measure by money.

6 months. how many pieces you add? If you charge the amount after 1 year old, then it is ok.

You ask how much I think reasonable, I said it depends on the babysitter.

Back in old days when I am still a baby, when my mum send to me to babysitter, the babysitter keeps request additional money. The reason? She wants to buy toilet paper, milo, fish etc. My mum is so busy earning every single penny for us and she did not ask until other neighbor question about this few months later - is the 4 months old baby drink milo? The 8 months old baby eat the whole chicken drumstick? after a year there, my mum look for another babysitter. She never ask for this. Besides, the price get cheaper when we gets older. The reason? "The kids already grow up, I did not take care of them. You pay some money for their food only la."

Hard to get one like this nowadays. Tough.

what i understand is
Day only, 5days a week

Chinese sitter RM850-1200
Malay sitter RM400-600

Chinese tend to top up RM50 after 6 months, coz of so called solid food started. More food + more effort to feed baby? dont know.

I send to chinese sitter, grandma level, she just jaga for fun, RM850. consider cheap at my area, Setapak.

Also has to see how many babies/kids the babysitter is watching. I wouldn't choose a baby sitter who is taking care of 5 babies even though it's cheap.

Exactly my point. I have ex-colleague who was surprised on finding another colleague paying 900 to babysitter. She said hers is only RM250. We asked her how many toddler she's babysitting. Imagine our horror when she answered 5! blink.gif

Even 3, if all are babies is horrible enough.

Day 850 per month
Night 1200 per month

If you don't want to pay RM 50-100 extra, you may cook and bring your foods to baby sitter.

Personally, I will not save that small amount of 50-100, unless you find 50 or 100 is too big for you. Because, my baby sitter buy breads, cookies, fish and meat when i pay them appropriately, unless you want your baby to eat porridge with kicap everyday but you know, children will not eat the same food like us.

My babysitter, her childrens will buy also something for my child when they were outstation or business trip. E.g. my child is given banana, or papaya, or occasionally, cake as tea snack.

Apart electricity and effort, my precious time is far more important. Working mom that upkeep and maintain herself, will earns back that 50-100 per month. Think long term.

Very difficult to find a reasonable babysitter. Mostly, they take care 3-5 childrens if you want cheap. If you find your babysitter expansive, find another baby sitter. Or else, you need to take care by yourself.

It doesn't matter what you are paying your babysitter. You need to find a babysittet that is reliable and dependent. One who will look after the baby with care and dilligence. I know it is hard to find someone like this in this era but you have to look thoroughly for the welfare of your baby.
