Im not a big fan of branded jerseys, cant really feel the difference and right now only using the ones that came from races / century rides. Works alright with me. To me there are only 2 types, crap jerseys and ok jerseys. Got few crap ones from races, century rides and but the rest seems all alright with me. Pakai and kayuh je, bukannya nak pergi buat catwalk. Monton, Jakroo, Rapha, spez, etc, they dont make shitty product unless you are very particular what kind of jersey material are allowed to touch your skin or else put it on and ride on. Even some of the unknown brands that I got from races are alright to wear and didnt give me any discomfort during riding.

The brands are there, just ask your wallet and let it speaks of itself

Guys,

I am preparing for my biggest ride, 160km next week.

How do you guys prepare before the long hours ride? Do I need to take electrolite tablet or anything the night before, etc? Any other tips?

Thanks.
*
Personally I don’t bother about electrolytes or salt tablets, a bottle of coke or 100 plus during the stops does the job well done as well. The most important thin are:
Money
Phone fully charged and kept inside a waterproof plastic bag
2 spare tubes / sealant if tubular
Tyre levers
Pump
2 bidons for water
Don’t do it alone unless you are very familiar with the route and it’s safe to do so

Remember to eat well in each stop but do not overeat. Have fun!!!!

I’ve never done tapering for rides unless it’s a race but I do know some cyclists do taper a day or two before a hard ride.

hey guys, any tips for a newbie like me that wish to start cycling? As a first step I wish to actually rent a bike first and slowly make my way up. Is there any shop/place that allow you to rent the bike around KL area? Thanks!
*
Try car free day which is once every 2 sundays and they do borrow bike for you to cycle within the closed route. 5KM per loop and you can cycle as much as you want from 7AM till 9AM.

guys,

anyone using garmin edge 520 plus here? today I rode kesas but the speed sudden drop like 30 went to 10 and then 15 before back to 30 even on the flat. Im sure that the speed remain the same when this happens.

any1 face the same problem?this is my first time using garmin edge. before this using bryton with no such issue.
*
If you are using speed sensor then might be due to battery of the sensor and if you are using satellite, bad signal?

Never had any issue with 520 before

I see. Did you use speed sensor? I asked a couple of shops, they said it is known issue for garmin speed sensor. So they suggest me not to use the speed sensor at all.

My Bryton is using GPS as main speed reading and speed sensor as secondary. I did not find this in Garmin as we dont have the option. Or it is automatically use speed sensor when the gps signal drop?
*
Nope, never use speed sensor on my garmin before, always GPS and it works alright

QUOTE(CcL @ Nov 9 2018, 02:47 PM)
Had my tri bike adjusted twice.

As mentioned before, went for TF which lowered seat and raised the stem, still have sore sit bone and toe numbness.

Recently went for VO2max by Patrick. Very professional, a physio by training. Has 3D real time mapping for angles as well as bike measuring. saddle raised about 2cm, stem/cockpit dropped by 4cm, added wedges to shoe. Had seat pressure mapping as well, tried another wider ISM saddle (which he thought would suit me better), but shown empirically (by the pressure mapping) that the wider saddle was actually causing higher pressure despite being more centralised (on current saddle more pressure on left side).

At least things are backed up by real data. So ultimately had more confidence. Still have sore sit bones, but lesser, and toe numbness are a lesser occurrence <<< after 2 weeks of riding this new setup.

It is nice that after adding wedges, I still know from the 3D cameras that my knee is still tracking within the normal range etc. Yes RM750 is expensive, but I bit the bullet since I believe a good fit will help with being efficient and prevent injury.

My only comment is, I wish we could play around with adjustments by the millimeter to see if +2 mm or -2 mm is better or worse etc, you know, like at the optometrist. Until everything is dialed in perfect. Maybe i'm too demanding. But right now the stats show my angles etc being in normal range.
*
Once you have your report from Patrik, do play around with your adjustment as you have the numbers in case if you want to get back to the original setup by Patrik. I had my fitting done by Patrik years back and by that time it was RM 600, since then, ive been playing with the setup like lowering stem, increasing the height of seatpost and such. If it works, then i leave it as it is and if it doesnt, just go back to the original setup.

question - my quadriceps/front thigh always cramp after 50km+, how can i prevent this and wat is the cause of this?
i have tried staying hydrated, salt stick, but still same
*
My "so-called scientific" explanation on cramping is:
You've reached the limit of what your muscle can handle. Cramp could come at any mileage as it depends on the effort you put on the muscle rather than distance. You could get cramp at 20KM if you push beyond what your muscle can handle or you could do 100KM as long as you keep as zone 2.

How to overcome it?
Keep training and gradually increase the effort / resistance. The muscle will adjust itself and start to be able to cope with the effort put on it

Thats my own explanation on why do i suffer from cramp from time to time

hmm...so i need to increase my effort/cadence for my usual 54km ride for my muscle to adjust itself and cope with higher effort.
*
In my situation, yes. Gradually increasing the effort (while training) helps the situation whenever the need arises with less chance of cramping

In term of trainings, if you are using strava, i found that stravatistix/elevate extension is very useful to gauge your fitness, form and fatigue. This is to optimize the output of your training so that you wont either under-trained (is that even a word?) or overload your body. You could download it here for Chrome extension https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/e...jcgicpckn?hl=en

Usually only rides with support vehicles has fee to it. Normal weekly ride, be it from a cycling club or bicycle shop has no monetary cost to it except to be self sufficient and come prepared with extra tubes, pump and what not
