Not the best option to be riding around end of October outdoors in UK, you will need cold weather kit or you will get very very wet and very cold.
Bayswater? Don't bother bringing your bike, most gyms around have good spinning bikes / wattbikes for training and they normally do weekly passes, just bring bib shorts and cycling shoes with spd cleats. Bikes are not allowed on tube except for overground or some specific lines limited stops at non-peak times which means you will have to cycle, and again I wouldn't suggest riding in London if you're not used to it (unless you're very good at CX or MTB riding)

And Manchester Piccadilly is super crowded, if you want to ride, only good time to make your way outwards is morning on weekends when it's less busy on roads, or drive further out to start riding. Get a gym pass in this case instead.

Robbery, won't happen. Theft of parked bikes, very common.

If you were coming in Spring/Summer, bring your bike. If you're coming now, keep your bike at home because rain is everywhere and temperatures are hovering around 10C.

Having lived in London, commuted by bike, and lost a bike to theft. +1

Well nice!

Used to live in West Hampstead. It was a 20 minute ride to Harlesden versus an hour by bus.
It was also a 20 minute ride down Abbey road to Leicester square for the weekend shop.

Try looking on Facebook for Ez Rider or Team Magnum. The former usually rides from Bukit jelutong northwards. While Magnum usually rides from Semenyih to the Lekas highway through the surrounding hills. Alternatively is to look for a group ride in putrajaya if you prefer flat riding and speed.

Tcr Advanced 2 2019 : USD1900 Malaysia selling RM6500

Caad 12 2019 : USD1575 Malaysia selling RM7000

Whatttt???!!!! Why is the Caad so much more expensive when it should be cheaper
Caad selling above price while tcr selling below.
Why why
*
Buy from overseas lo. Since roadbikes are tax free. No sense crying about why it's more expensive. Instead of why why, just buy buy online.

yah. that is why need to go to the shop
those who are not able to do so, buying online is quite risky

but hey, proper q&a with the seller should be a good requirement
*
Which means easier and better to go a local bike shop lah.

Just found out I cannot just buy any cheap road bike. It has to be spec to my size/height.
Any good new road bike under 2k with 54-56cm frame ? 56cm is best.
All the ones out there ready to go are either 44 or 49cm or 50cm too small for my height.
*
Buying a bike is like buying a bespoke shirt or suit, you take your measurements and pick a size approx to your measurements. You don't pick a price range in the used bike section and see what you get.
If you really want to get into road riding, best to visit a shop. Doing it cheap and blindly only benefits the BBS seller.

Not really and even though I can explain why without using esoteric jargons, people who have set their own convictions find it hard to accept the truth and would rather be indifferent, shun it away and be a conceited self proclaimed expert.

Wow Fraser's loop seems deadly! we usually ride round Penang island which is around 80km.
Support vehicle is good RM40 is not bad for decent group of riders, and also a backup incase of emergency like in your case.
*

Pg can ride from paya terubong to balik pulau kah? If yes can do “figure 8” ride instead of just the round island ride.

hI all,

I'm planning to go into cycling, using mountain bike.

1) What brand of bike is recommended?..I'm planning to survey at shopee website

2) the rationale for picking mountain bike is because it has cheaper maintenance. Is this rationale correct?

Facts:
- Budget: RM400 and below, if possible, below RM200. smile.gif  (I saw the model Garion at shopee, cost RM443, looks fine, recommended?)
- purpose: to keep fit, will cycle it once per week, or once in 2 weeks. smile.gif

You're in the wrong thread bro. Try the MTB tered.
I'm sure you have heard of the adage,
Cheap thing no good, good thing no cheap.
You need to do a little more research into what is a MTB.

If u service or take of ur bike as per instruction, mtb is more expensive to maintain. The fork maintenance is expensive. If u dont care about it, just use without servicing the fork, then yes, mtb could be the cheaper option.

Imho, the best bike for him might be a mamachari bicycle. All rigid and fixed gears. And if he didn't ride it anymore, good RV.

You guys already know that even high priced high end bikes still comes with low end parts that attached through it to cut corners.  Even bikes RM$10,000 Specialized Carbon Tarmac comes with crappy DT Swiss R470 rims.  With selective parts i know which is necessary for my riding style that save budget for commuting.  34 years of cycling i learned that "its not the bike its the rider".   Here's is the video of my commuting...so you guys know my riding style and parts needed.

Will post updates once i have the wheels and grouppo replaced.  biggrin.gif

Just get them custom built. Spec a hub and rim. Easy enough. High end bike riders like you who turn their noses up at stock bike parts should be well versed with customization at the point of buying.
Or did you forget that cheap things no good, good things no cheap?

Hey happy 2019!,  rclxm9.gif

Latest updates...
I didn't get the neither MAVIC model because COSMIC wasn't available and AKSIUM went into factory recall.  So my existing choice in the shop was between PROLITE CARBON, FULCRUM QUATTRO
and PROGRESS PHANTOM TURBINE NITRO......i ended up getting the PROGRESS PHANTOM TURBINE NITRO wheelset because its lighter, quality build and very good bearing....but expensive!
Also upgraded whole groupset using latest SHIMANO 105 R7000 and also change cockpit parts to adjust the reach setup.  Overall revived my 10 year old road bike with new tech.  Did some test ride, the climbing and acceleration was a huge improvement.  New R7000 grouppo shift smooth and nice feeling on the shifter hood for small hands. That was the best setup ever made.  Below snapshots of my bike build for 2019.
