Under doctor advise, can take some potassium/magnesium supplements... but be careful not to overdose, it will stop your heart beating (for potassium)

I would suggest going vegetarian/vegan but it's probably too dramatic a change for everyone.

Lose weight and the blood pressure will come down. Studies have shown that blood pressure drops once overweight people lose weight.

I used to get 130/80+ bp too when i was overweight.
Get your weight to healthy bmi, less stress and now my bp runs in 115/75+
I also take calcium/magnesium supplements, it helps a lot in better sleep & reduce palpitations

-Your physician will tell you what blood pressure medications to take to control your blood pressure.
-But it is known that there are a number of lifestyle issues that can help lowering blood pressure as well. Quitting smoking is on top of those. The others are discussed below.
-Regular high amounts of alcohol will raise your blood pressure. So either cut alcohol out or reduce alcohol consumption to 1 glass of wine per day for women and no more than 2 glasses of wine for men.
-Regular exercise will increase the HDL cholesterol, which opens up your arteries and at the same time lowers your blood pressure.
-A Mediterranean type diet releases nitric oxide, which is a powerful molecule that normalizes blood pressure. Both a healthy diet (rich in vegetables) and regular exercise increase nitric oxide production.
