Houthi 'suicide drone' explodes at King Khalid Air Base, destroying two Saudi Tornado attack jets

user posted image

The Mail on Sunday can also reveal how RAF engineers sent to Saudi Arabia to repair the kingdom’s fleet of military aircraft narrowly escaped death last week. Iranian-backed rebels launched a ‘suicide drone’ strike on the King Khalid air base, where they are maintaining Tornado jets used to bomb civilian areas in Yemen.

According to reports, the drone exploded on the runway, destroying two Tornados. The MoD said no UK personnel were wounded.

In response to the revelations, former Minister Andrew Mitchell said last night the UK was ‘shamefully complicit’ in Saudi Arabia’s role in Yemen. He called on the Government to provide further explanations to Parliament about the role of the British troops.

In related news, at least five British Special Forces commandos have been wounded in gun battles as part of a top-secret UK military campaign in Yemen, The Mail on Sunday can reveal.

The elite Special Boat Service (SBS) troops, whose presence in the war-ravaged country is shrouded in secrecy, suffered gunshot injuries in fierce clashes with Iranian-backed rebel militia in recent months.

The SBS men were treated for leg and arm wounds following the battles in the Sa’dah area of northern Yemen, where up to 30 crack British troops are based. The casualties are understood to be now recovering in the UK.

A SBS source said: ‘The guys are fighting in inhospitable desert and mountainous terrain against highly committed and well-equipped Houthi rebels. The SBS’s role is mainly training and mentoring but on occasions they have found themselves in firefights and some British troops have been shot.

‘In a contact a few weeks ago, a SBS guy was shot in the hand and another guy was shot in the leg. Their injuries were a reminder that this is a very dangerous assignment. Obviously nothing about the mission will be confirmed publicly by the Ministry of Defence unless a UK soldier is killed – they’d have to announce that.’

The Government’s official position is that it is seeking a ‘sustainable political solution to the Yemen conflict’.

KDN akan tubuhkan pasukan petugas tangani isu pencerobohan nelayan asing

user posted image

This should be the main purview of the APMM, yet the navy is still getting roped into this venture. laugh.gif

Thats why.... its like putting army permanently in NBOS. As we know army is a force that operate in large numbers. Deploying them in NBOS give them problem to conduct exercise at large scale (brigade, division) effectively. My friends told me about this.... so the same will happen in navy. Yes we know, we always conduct patrol to assist enforcement agencies as our secondary duty. But not to establish like this kind of task force....by doing this we will be tied up. There will a primary agency to coordinate, so command & control will also be a problem.

^ excellent points

Question: do TDM have division-scale manoeuvre exercises?
*
Yes they are....but I asked my friends in the army, its difficult to assemble the full size even at battalion size because of the commitment with too much initiatives which is not the core business

this is a major problem... 10para which is supposed to be the rpd should at least have a battalion size unit to be able to deploy anywhere in msia within 24 hours
*
But now...... at esscom, at airport, etc.... difficult to form up even qt battalion level for integration training

Today got 50 Thai Navy cadets came to my place... I was tasked to deliver a brief to them about Malaysia subs... u know what, being cadets are always cadets.... I just finished my corporate video & half of them already slept. And I was surprised also, they spend 8 years of training before commissioning as officers.

France’s FS Charles de Gaulle in Singapore for deployment’s furthest port visit

user posted image

French aircraft carrier FS Charles de Gaulle has arrived in Singapore where the French defense minister will be taking part in the Shangri-La Dialogue from May 31 to June 2.

Singapore’ Changi Naval Base is the farthest port call of the aircraft carrier’s deployment as part of operation Clemencau 2019, which started in March this year.

Once the ship gets underway, it will start the return leg of the mission and is expected to return to its Toulon homeport in July.

During its time in Singapore, however, the aircraft carrier and ships from the carrier strike group will join their Singaporean counterparts for exercises.

This is the aircraft carrier’s second port call in Singapore, after it previously arrived for a visit in 2002.

Prior to arriving in Singapore, the aircraft carrier took part in a number of exercises in the Bay of Bengal, the Mediterranean and the Red Sea. The ship also took part in dual-carrier ops with Indian and US aircraft carriers.

Dont need to send sub.... if foreign warships come to our port, just a small sampan with a "fisherman" onboard laying his "fish hook" in front of the breakwater sambil bersiul hisap rokok pun dah cukup. 😁😁😁
