in the spirit of sharing, i would like to write down the cheapest prices I have encountered while seeking for quotations for my kitchen cabinet

Base unit:
melamine- RM110 pft, melamine ABS- RM150
3G acrylic- RM160 pft, 4G acryclic
Solid nyatuh- RM150 pft
Laminate - RM150 pft

Drawer set:
melamine Set of 3 RM350
laminated set of 3 RM400

End panel:
melamine rm
laminated rm370

wardrobe:
Melamine - RM250 (swing), RM299 (sliding)

But the prices above may or maynot include soft close.

But again a reminder, cheaper may not be of best quality so choose wisely.

Cheers!

Happy weekend!

This week i was busy scouring the my home expo at MITEC. Previous week was at Home Living Expo at Bukit Jalil.. so it was quite daunting trying to look/search/compare the different packages and prices they have.

So the main thing is to look for kitchen cabinet. For the wet kitchen:
total base unit is around 18ft, melamine
Total wall unit around 11.5 ft, acrylic
Tall unit around 1.5 ft, melamine
Quartz stone around 18.5ft
Aluminium skirting, sort close, installation n transport plus drawing etc. Free gifts like granite sink, faucet, stainless steel carcass for the sink area , ss 900mm drain basket and 200mm pull out ss basket

Was quoted around RM18k. Not sure if it is a good deal or not, if change quartz to high pressure laminate table top would be RM15k hmmmm

For the dry kitchen,
Base unit around 11 ft, acrylic
Tall unit around 4 ft, acrylic
Quartz (brand omiya) or HPL around 11ft
Free sink, faucet, sink basket and 900mm ss dish basket

Was quoted around rm8k for high pressure laminate top, or RM10k for quartz stone

Will need to crunch numbers, any insight from fellow LYN is welcomed... thanks!

Let me share you mine, not the cheapest in town la...

quartz top : 190 pfr
base melamine : 180 pfr
wall 4G (3ft height) : 270 pfr
tall unit 4G : 740 pfr
alu skirting : 8 pfr
hafele soft close : 7 each

If 19ft base + 12ft wall + 2ft tall, roughly 12K

Yours acrylic, I don't know the price... And you have free gifts la.
By the way, your tall unit for oven?

It’s weird that yours is longer (19ft), but total peices is lower.

Nope, my tall unit is for storage (wet kitchen). I plan to have 2 tall unit in dry kitchen, one for storage also and the other for oven n microwave.

By the way, i saw most KC have both microwave and oven on the tall unit, but is it really necessary? Thinking of just usimg existing microwave
*
That’s the reason I asked what’s your purpose of tall unit. If you intend to put built in oven, it has to be 2ft instead of 1.5ft.

Hi!

Update on progress- site for wood decking work in progress. Outdoor power outlet fixed.
*
There is a main switch inside house to control these 3 outdoor sockets right?

Yes. Is it necessary?
*
It's recommended, to turn them off when not in used. Of course you may turn off the MCB if no main switch.
Otherwise there is risk, people may just connect a grinder to it and cut open your door/window.

Concerned with the almost burst budget, im trying to make some changes to the wet kitchen cabinet. Instead of full height wall unit, change to standard size and make boxed up melamine (i think cheaper by rm2,000), or if I don’t do the boxed up melamine, I could just cover the area using plaster ceiling (I think?) like picture below (savings of estimated RM3000)
*
Full height
- More storage space
- Prevent dust accumulation on top
- But difficult to reach (need bench/ladder)

So first you better figure out the purpose of full height of yours.
If you really need more storage, better stick to full height cabinet.

Otherwise, I would suggest plaster ceiling box up, it should just cost you few hundreds.

For wardrobe, prolly a full height sliding door will be better aesthetic wise? Of course the cost will be higher but shouldn't differ too much from full height using melamine board.

Using Icubiq wardrobe here.
*
My full height sliding door was same price with bottom sliding door + top swing door.
But if total height 10ft, have to check with carpenter whether the weight can be supported.

I meant full height sliding door. However mine is 9ft 5"(full height to ceiling) x 8ft(width) . There is additional cost for door with grey mirror finish compared to standard 8ftx8ft. Good thing about icubiq is their sliding system is solid(tested in their showroom) and capable to sustain up to 10ft. But cost wise compared to typical wardrobe oh well, good things don't come cheap sweat.gif .

Top swing door will be hassle to reach though.
*
Yes I said full height sliding door, same price with combination of bottom sliding, top swing.
No additional cost from my carpenter.

thumbsup.gif . Type of your sliding door finishes? Your wardrobe is fit in between walls or standalone?
*
Normal melamine (with black coated aluminium frame) without mirror finish.
Fit in between walls? I don't get it. Mine is L-shape.

Full height sliding was suggested by my carpenter though.
Trusted him & turned out kinda good.

Good to hear that. Tested quite a few in the market, wardrobe wobble during opening and closing the sliding doors lol. Perhaps u should recommend to TS? Haha.

There are some fitted wardrobe wall to wall on the sides. Meaning both sides of the wardrobe is supported by walls thus eliminating wobbles during sliding open and close. Wobbles are due to not so solid build.
*
Now I understand. But hardly to have walls at both side unless it's added by own.
Anyhow mine at least got support at one side and is L-shape, so far so good.

Nothing special, just a full height sliding door wardrobe instead of 7ft height.

Let’s talk about dry kitchen.

So I am planning to have the top wall unit and base unit of same size, therefore the clearance for the sink area must be taller (to avoid bumping heads on the wall unit).

So the kitchen company had two 3D sketch- one with 600mm height (for the backsplash/distance between top of base cabinet to bottom of wall unit) and the other one at 1000mm. However she mentioned, if at 1000mm, then the carcass of the wall unit would be visible and may not look very nice. Any thoughts?
*
Same size? Same depth of 2ft? Won't it be more difficult to reach to inside of wall cabinet?

Yes now rethinking options. Maybe same size not such a good idea
*
Please check your carpenter to ensure it can hold the weight on wall cabinet if you opt for 2ft depth.

And the issue of head bumping can be minimized if you opt for standard 1ft depth.
And, probably can check for some sort of built-in dish rack to put on top of your sink instead of standard cabinet.
