Let say I went for safety and health officer course and passed all the exams set by niosh, is it easy to find a job using the course certificate? Let's just assume I don't have any experience or edu background.

If you pursue and get the Green Book then the chances to get job is higher.

Nowadays especially in O & G they have put requirement for SHO to have Green Book.

U need to have working experience in safety n health field at least 3 years as a prerequisite to obtain green book. But first, u gotta pass the Niosh examto get the certificate...

Yes, even that certificate quite valuable and can find jobs.

And the course fee is only around RM5k++ last i remember.

i'm still in HSE field, but not SHO

coz I'm not good in managing people and easy going (need to be garang LoL)

Pass is easy, but to get a job is hard unless you have solid experience

C) if no A&B only then just find any hse work eg construction

but now he pening already as business requirements now needs NEBOSH

personally go for NEBOSH and get dem green book bro, if no money

2) work simpan duit
3) get NEBOSH

I check NEBOSH certificate only around RM3K but diploma is RM10k. Both are e-learning.

Iinm NEBOSH and Niosh cert is different. Niosh exam cert lets you register as SHO. NEBOSH is UK iirc.

Generally you are required to have SHO GB to work as SHO in Malaysia (generally la since I have seen additional req as per industry needs, ie NEBOSH, OGSP, AESP, AGT, etc.).

I would also suggest that even if you are looking at SHO as career path, the industry direction also needs to be pondered. Whether O&G, construction or manufacturing.

I, myself, completed course in April 2018, sat for 3 papers in May. Now looking for placement for paper 4. (Self advertise lol - ada lubang tolong inform).

There are 10 industries listed in osha 94 that must hire safety officer.

I mean competent SHO (greenbook holder)

If u already passed all, u can become HSE supervisor or site safety supervisor.

Go plantation, palm oil mills or kilang2

Safety practitioner also here..IMHO, choose your preference industry, as different industry have different kind of grade salary for hse/safety/SHO. Also, different industry,different HSE culture, different workload and different experience exposure.

SHO nowadays not like the old days, it cannot guarantee high salary anymore, and also cannot guarantee easy path along the way...also to maintain the CEP for your Green Book renewal, going to give you headache.

is it easy to find a job using the course certificate --> nothing can guarantee.even university degree also is not a ticket for one to get a job..however the chances is higher if you combined certificates, or combined it with existing diploma,or degree..but at the end, it is up to the company requirement, and how much you are willing to accept the salary. Nowadays I tell u, salary for SHO getting lower and lower, and people still accepting it, as people need to survive month in month out.
