Probably your car is fighting against the rain and wind(wind resistance) and rain water on the road(road resistance) and therefore, your car automatically down shift a gear without you realizing? It's something like an auto car I experienced... going thru very wet road(not slippery) suddenly... the gear suddenly downshift to make up for the auto gear dragging... I dunno how best to explained technically...  blink.gif

If it's slippery... your ESC will kick in and you'll notice your ESC sign will flicker and your car wheels feel like shuddering.

Don't have any shuddering feel and ESC never kick in… I think is the gear auto down shift, it sound like gear dragging and louder bit compare to normal drive.

Vehicle assist works if you are stopped up a hill and when you let go of your brakes, the car will not roll back. I guess it's the same if your stopped down a hill.

Engine braking shud be when you manually shift down your gear or your gear automatically detects increase of speed but no acceleration being applied.

Not entirely... it controls stuff mainly in the engine... those electronics found in mercs and beemers, I'm pretty sure there are other computers to control that...
