There is no major difference between direct lit and edge lit , they are just the method TV used to light up the screen .
If done properly , neither will cause you any problems . It should never be a factor to consider when buying TV.
If it doesn't matter why are people keep talking about it ?
Because people on internet spit bullcrap all the time . Just like some TV fanatics around these corners who keep spreading wrong information.
I don't have time nor intention to correct them , let alone to reply to them . Let them remain the laughing stocks they are , after all you can't wake up someone who is not sleeping .
Back to the topic , the only time when direct lit / edge lit becomes important is when the TV has a Local Dimming system.
In general , the direct-lit Local Dimming ( also known as Full Array Local Dimming ) is far better because they can control the LED backlight of TV via separate zones .
These TV can project a much better dark room performance and contrast compare to the edge-lit counterparts.
So to reiterate what I just said , if you're planning to get a TV with no local dimming system , direct lit or edge lit should not be a deal breaker.
I hope that clear up some of your confusion .
TBF , I know next to nothing on the UK6200.
It is pretty much the only LG TV model that has completely slipped off my radar from last year .
I do know it is a variant of UK6100/UK6300 but not a RGBW TV.
Appreciate your in depth explanation.
Yeah you are right about the direct lit or edge lit making no difference if there is no local dimming system... This has cleared my confusion.. FALD TV are much pricier than the standard ones so will stay away from it for now. Hahah... Walked to Harvey Norman just to check the TV. They had the SAMSUNG NU8000 (55 inches) on display clearance for RM3300. 😏😏
