Yeah that's what most of us did. I actually bought 3 years Xbox Live Gold because I wanted to do this. At that time I didn't know Xbox Live membership cannot exceed 3 years total. So I could only claim 2 years Xbox Live Gold, then apply the USD1 deal. But once my subscription period left to 2 and a half years, I could claim the 1 year subscription. But it's not a full year though. 1 year Xbox Live Gold = 3 months Gamepass Ultimate.

hi everyone, i see that xbox launched cloud gaming for xbox game pass. anyone have any idea whether will the cloud gaming work with VPN cause the game pass is not available in Malaysia?

Doom Eternal is heading to Xbox Game Pass, which makes a very good shooter available for a fairly low fee. Microsoft made the announcement on its official blog Thursday. Doom Eternal will be included in the subscription for consoles starting Oct. 1, and additionally become available on Game Pass for PC before the end of 2020.

A follow-up to the 2016 relaunch of Doom, Doom Eternal brings back the Slayer with all of his heavy armor and powerful weapons. Players have to start killing demons again, which is what the Slayer does best, and the campaign goes to Earth, Mars, and Hell in the pursuit of finding demons and then — you guessed it — slaying them.

Doom Eternal also has a multiplayer component, which sets up an asymmetrical match between various powerful miniboss demons and a Slayer. A DLC pack for the campaign, The Ancient Gods, is en route, which will expand the single-player experience.

Microsoft recently acquired the publisher of Doom Eternal, Bethesda Softworks, in a massive $7.5 billion deal. Microsoft acquired the Doom franchise with its purchase of ZeniMax Media, as well as Fallout, The Elder Scrolls, Wolfenstein, Dishonored, Prey, and several more properties.

I was so tempted to buy when it was on sale for USD30 just a few weeks ago.. but i'm just time starved and stingier with my cash these dys.

I honestly can't remember the last game i bought since i got Gamepass.  Maybe that's why the local game shops don't really support xbox since they can't benefit from the initial sale and subsequent trade-in and resale.  At the 70USD price for AAA, the only way PS5 gamers can play everything is to keep trading in stuff.  Makes no difference for me since these days i rarely have the time to play a game on Day 1.

On Xbox we had EA Access which gives which was basically gamepass for EA games but that's been rebranded to EA Play which will be added to Gamepass (for free!)at the end of the year.  I don't know anything about Origin Access Premier - is that like EA Access but with newer games?

For 3rd party they do give you a month's warning before a game leaves the service - that's usually more than enough time to finish up a game.  For me, while i do enjoy the 1st party AAA titles the most joy i've had this year has been discovreing the smaller indie titles which I would never have bought.

GOW5 day 1 on gamepass definitely did not help sales.

Anyway, I'm too lazy to get up to change discs.  Currently I have 200+ games installed on my xbox - a mixture of Games with gold, purchased digital 360 & xone games and gamepass.  It's seriously damn cool that I can just move my HDD to the new xbox when it arrives and play.

For retail, i guess that places like Gamers Hideout are still making decent money from the pre-owned games model but i think the days of retail are numbered.  PC and xbox market is gone already leaving just Nintendo and PS5.
RDR2 is always on sale these days and the Rockstar Publisher sale is on now if i'm not mistaken.  I actually bought RDR2 at launch - played for half an hour and never went back to it lol.
