I am currently considering to buy either the Illegear Raven or the Asus FX504.

The Asus FX504 seems to be a laptop with very good value. My friends were able to get the top specs model (i7-8750H, 4GB RAM, GTX1050Ti, 128GB SSD+1TB SSHD) for just RM3999, and add another 8GB RAM for RM370. The Illegear Raven with about the same specs however, is RM4573, much more expensive.

Personally I prefer the Illegear Raven because of how customizable it is. It also seems to be the better laptop with more features. I also saw a lot of bad reviews for Asus.

However, money is not the biggest problem here. The problem is that I am going to study overseas at Hong Kong and I plan to bring the laptop with me. If I went with Illegear then I would probably get no warranty and customer support when I am overseas. If it's some minor problems I would probably be able to solve it myself, but if it's some bigger problems then I'm basically doomed.

I really like the Illegear Raven but the price and warranty is telling me to get the Asus FX504. Should I go safe with Asus, or take the risk with what I like and pray to god that my Raven has no issues?

Would like to hear some opinions and advice from people who own either of these laptops to see how they compare. Or maybe someone would have a better recommendation for me? I will be using the laptop for some gaming, video editing and 3D animations.

There's nothing that can be said that there'll be no problem with your laptop... otherwise there won't be the term LEMON in the production line...

Conclusion... go to the retail shops and test the laptops and decide yourself...

Who told u dell warranty so expensive ? High end such as Alienware maybe yes, those latitude, inspiron, vostro also expensive ar ? U got con before ist ?

MaxQ basically in a nutshell is meant for thin and light gaming machines.

Thinner laptops won't have similar thermal cooling as thicker laptops. Therefore MaxQ GPU's may experience throttling (aka slower)
So yeah thin and light will usually feature MaxQ!

Dell warranty prices work on a sliding scale. So yeah Alienware is expensive, XPS less and Inspiron cheapest.

Sounds fair lah anyway I'll opt for 2 to 3 years depending on how long I intend to keep the machine.

if you bought the retail unit of alienware or xps Laptops, price for both model for another 1 or 2 years premium support are totally same.

Dell G7 or Dell 7577

I recommended Illegear, but be sure to know what you want and what you're capable of doing. I myself teardown Laptop before, so I'm comfortable with highly customize Laptop such as Illegear.

Dell would also be my choice? Reason is for the warranty. Trust me, its worth it. My previous laptop was Dell (5 years). Motherboard fried due to colleague printer malfunction and even Dell technician come to my college and replace in front of me.

since money is not the issue here...
u may need to consider which is the priority... warranty or customization..

Dell warranty good in Malaysia..

Im currently looking at Illegear Raven, Onyx, Dell G7, Acer Helios 300 and Asus Scar/FX series..

Depends on your needs and preferences. Myself I have an Illegear Onyx BUT as everyone else has mentioned here, Dell On-Site is hard to beat.

Sure, Dell On-Site is not 100% foolproof for everyone, but having lived with an XPS before (a long long time before), the experience of having people come to YOU (rather than you to them) to fix your motherboard and crap for THREE solid years (yeah I upgraded, and yes it was worth the money spent) is pretty awesome.

Alas, I had other priorities and had to ditch Dell this time around (they didn't really have something I wanted, or could customise to what I wanted this cycle) but that doesn't make them any less awesome for what they are.

Of course, nowadays in terms of unit customization Dell isn't top dog any more, but I digress. Again, it depends on your priorities.

Thanks for the answer, i really likes onyx for the thinness but the keyboard key distance really tiny weh..

Need to go illegear stores to check it out first
