Here's an honest opinion on the local music scene by a local artist:
https://millennialsofkl.com/2017/11/22/mala...-nyk-interview/ TLDR: Get yourself recorded & produced professionally. You've gotta invest time & money in your song & marketing. There's really no such thing as a "big break' here. You gotta keep pushing until you see the light of day. And hope that record labels sign you up. This is a pretty good local song produced by a local label. |

It was great advice from him, really, keep playing and clubs and open mics will get you that small fanbase, but that's it.https://millennialsofkl.com/2017/11/22/mala...-nyk-interview/ TLDR: Get yourself recorded & produced professionally. Maybe you could start by sharing with us. |

Soundcloud and Spotify.
For Youtube you've gotta learn to make videos. Although, from what I heard, Arctic Monkeys became popular purely from YouTube. But I personally discovered at least 2 of my favorite bands on Spotify - and they're no-name bands, I've never seen them on mainstream media or in YouTube suggestions. |

Good advices all around. Just want to add on; try to score some gigs / shows.. find out who are the people behind these shows or the organizers and send them your demo either through email/FB or whatever social media platforms they're on. There are many artists & bands, sure, but you'd be surprised to know just how small the scene/industry actually is here in Malaysia and most are usually very supportive.
Get out there, and when you do.. tell them where to get more (your youtube or FB page). Gain followers |
