Hi. Has anyone managed to get the CIMB ATM Debit card fee of MYR15.00 (+GST) waived? The customer service pointed out that the savings account is free of charge. But this fee is for the ATM Debit card which I have no choice but to take because CIMB no longer supports the normal ATM card. This is blatant hidden fees and false advertising.
I read in an earlier thread that potentially I need to close my current savings account and reopen a basic savings account. However, if they are giving the same ATM Debit card, then wouldn't CIMB be charging the same ATM Debit Card fee?
Are there any other consumer banks in Malaysia who are doing this unethical practice?
Yes. Just close account and ask for free basic savings account. Problem settle. They will tell you that account doesn't exist or don't apply the free account, there's limit. Just ignore them and insist you want that free account. Been there done that.I read in an earlier thread that potentially I need to close my current savings account and reopen a basic savings account. Yes other banks also doing such things. If you don't ask, you don't get the free account.
