I would say go for Aperture priority mode.

With this you control only the opening of the shutter. Shutter speeed will be auto.

Bigger F no = darker shots (shooting the sky)

smaller F no = brighter shots (normal conditions)

actually, i think it's imperative to read the manual.
so, if ur'e looking for easy way out, instead of grinding ur teeeth all throughg the manual, then, i'm sorry to say, not much help can be offered to u .

i've talked to few pro photogs, and they've said the same, get some knowledge about cameras first. i asked thm where to start, they say manual.

after that, use A / P like someone suggested above, then observe the kind of aperture and shutter set by the camera.... after that, use manual and try to incorprate lor smile.gif

Read the manual (it's a several thousand ringgit item for goodness sake!), and then go read the photo.net tutorials (among others).

If all goes well, after just a month, you'll nearly never use 'P' mode or any of the pre-programmed auto modes like 'potrait' or 'fireworks' or 'underwater' mode or whatever.

aiyo. manual and googling wont help at all. u need to go practical. go out and shoot. check your end result. see what is wrong and what is right.

Hehe...good advice. I just sometimes find it really hard to go through the manual when the explanation is all 'tricky' and it is too thick tongue.gif

I guess its a little bit of both, read and try them out. Reading without trying them out is pointless so is trying different settings without knowing the knowledge of how the shot was taken or what causes the shot to look like that is also pointless.

Take your time to learn, patience and keeping on trying and I am sure you will be able to catch the techniques. nod.gif
