Greetings,

When it comes to bike, I'm a total noob (my expertise is in IT).
I travel to work daily around 80km.
Since it has been rainy nowadays and almost had accidents (TWICE in a day), during emergency brake and taking corner on highway, which tires suit me the most?

These are the details:

Bike: Benelli RFS 150i
Tire: Front: 70/90, Rear: 120/70
Purpose: Looking for tires which have good grip while speeding and cornering in wet condition.

Right now, I'm in dilemma choosing between Metzeler Sportec or Corsa S123.

Planning to get 80/90 front & 120/70 rear tires soon.

Please advice, otai-otai.

Thank you very much.

both are great. am myself using Metz right now, never scared of corner anymore in wet or dry. My friend is using S123 saying the same, but the grip is more S123 as he has experienced Metz before.

ive used both on the rear of my bike. 150/60 size.

front using S123 110/70.

both are good but i much prefer the S123. i feel more confident riding in the rain with it. so this is the tire id recommend.

S123 did about 18k km before i changed.
Sportec street currently at 5k km.

but im planning to change the front to sportec street also...just to try it out and see what it feels like to have both front and rear sportect street.

after that may end up back to S123.

Wet road...speeding , corbering. Almost accident.

No matter what tire you change and use... Won't help much.
Better you change your riding attitude first.

I almost had accidents due to this:

1) during lunch hour, I went out to clinic. Otw back, suddenly there was a van coming out in opposite direction. I had to make an emergency brake. I wasn't speeding at all because of slow traffic, but still the standard tires didn't grip very well. I almost lost control and hit the van.

2) after work, I went back home by using highway. When I want to exit the highway, there was a corner. Not sharp, just usual one. Yet, due to bad grip of the current tire, it was really slippery and I almost lost control of the bike again. Speed when taking the corner was around 60km/h.

FYI, to those who never travel daily more than 80km, you won't understand the need of speed.
3 hours on road after work, nobody can sustain of cruising at 60km/h.
It's really exhausting.
Most of people I know travel long distance usually cruising min at 100km/h, even during wet condition.
Finish work at 5.30pm, need to rush to pick up wife, then infant daughter at babysitter's house. I usually arrived home around 9pm. I don't know about you guys, but I won't make it on time if I don't rush.
(I work at Penang & travel back and forth to mainland to those who wonders)

Thanks for the advice.
I'll give Metz a try since the shop I went doesn't have S123 for size 120/70.

Thanks again.
Cheers~

my daily travel distance is around 80km too and sometimes during weekend, I rode my bike for 152km per way to my hometown. Iam using Corsa Sports Rain

front: 80/90r17
rear: 100/80r17

this model has better performance than S123 in wet road conditions but S123 may last longer than Sport Rain

Date: 21/01/2016 ODO: 26,156km
change both front & rear tyres

Date: 02/10/2017 ODO: 54,751km
change rear tyre only because front still got > 70% thread

Date: 30/05/2018 ODO: 66,354km
as of today rear still got > 80% thread while front < 25% and need to be replaced soon

for my usage, rear can last about 28k km while front can last about 40k km

so far so good

My Sport Rain front i change in July 2017 @ odo 67507
Today odo 92k still no sign of balding yet. this is with daily travel Klang-KL-Klang and occasional weekend rides.

i figured i dont need s123 after all. keep it too long the tyre will harden and crack. spoil before even used 50%. sport rain is pretty good.

u tell that to my little brother lol...

i once konvoi with him and he rides like 60-70km/j on a highway from ipoh to penang.... after 20 minutes following him i asked him to stop and tell him "cant u go any faster? i mean ur bike can do like 130km/j... go a bit faster lah. so he went faster... like 80km/j -90km/j....

it was freaking frustrating but have to follow him from behind so yeah.. after like 2 hours++ of riding we arrived at penang safely but never i want to go that slow ever again.

*just realized i replied to almost a year quote lol!
