200000 : 1 is impressive contrast but the issue is that they are rarely putting that contrast to use in real scene.
Take a look at the measurement by rtings , despite S95C peaking at 1200 nits and QN95C peaks at 1600 nits , the objects are not exactly brighter than the OLEDs. Given that the OLED has perfect black , that is MASSIVE dynamic range and color volume. When combined these give the QD OLED a major boost over QLED when it comes to picture quality.

The 2nd gen QD-OLED is not a major improvement over 1st gen.  Samsung is probably still trying to decide on the model Tiers like LG at the beginning with its G and C series . But in the next few years the specs gap between the 2 tiers will be larger so they can sell the premium model . ATM S90C is 98% as good as a S95C and with major discounts it makes more senses . I am certainly no fan of the one connect box either , which also has downgraded HDMI 2.1 ports.

In MY if you are planning to get the S95C , you might as well shed out a little bit more for A95L .

Honestly when you are looking at two pictures taken with different camera settings, of course you wont see where the extra 400 nits goes to. There are enough video reviews that showed them side by side and I remembered one particular review where he like to use mad max fiery flame thrower scene, miniled is indeed brighter... much brighter flame.

65" S95C for 7-8k ? Are you sure about that ?

Because that TV model arrived late in MY and a couple of months ago, even its own employee would not be getting 7-8k ( RRP : 16K - 40% = 10k ish , trust me on this because I have that discount ) .
The best price I was able to get out of S95C was 10k a couple of months ago and 12k for A95L from an Electronic shop I am very closed with.
Price is something I am fairly reluctant to discuss because it can vary greatly particularly if you are affliated with the sellers .  But that is definitely not the common price you will find on the market.

Sometimes Samsung has flash sales on models that they want to get rid of on EPP account. Bought a QN95B for 6.8K last year. S95B was going for RM7k at one point as well.

Samsung employee discounts? Nah, these are only great for newly released highend Samsung phones and robot vacuum.

If you are comparing end of the year sales price with the employee's discount , obviously that isn't going to work very well .
The 40 % discount are given to their employee and and peers in the industry , they can be used on newly launched products . Since they don't do internal adjustment so the RRP is still the same at the end of the year.

I dont think it's year end sale since purchased it in June/July IIRC. If you have EPP account then you just keep a watch on their flash sale. The QN95B and S95B was 50% off that time around.

I was shopping for a new TV and was informed by salesman that Samsung LED panels are now made in China and are not very durable, but LG still makes their panels in Korea and lasts longer.

Any comments on this? I realize this is Samsung thread, but hope to have unbiased replies...smile.gif

Shitty salesman if anything...

Samsung actually sold their factories in China to TCL and transferred all their patents on VA panel to TCL. Sony and Samsung still get their panel from the same factory now owned by TCL for most of their higher end tv that are using VA panel for better black levels. They also get ADS panel from BOE for some of their midrange model which offered similar characteristic as IPS panel manufactured by LG.

IPS panel are basically the one to avoid if anything due to the purplish tint when displaying black color. The only real benefits of IPS is the color shift when viewed from side are slightly better than that of VA panel.

Additionally LG made IPS panel tv offered a lot less dimming zones when compared to Samsung made ADS/VA panel TV.
