Try to turn off the dualcore, make it single core confirm you will reach ngam ngam 3 hours.

Well we can't really change to single core manually, it is done automatically. Anyway read this article you should have idea how to make your OS increase the batt usage. You can actually use single core on specified program. Just go task Manager>Processes>look for pogram like winamp> Right click Set affinity>Untick on cpu0 or cpu1.

Nothing you can do.
you can make it smoother but if you have 2GB ram then you are all max out.
You can uninstalled any bloatware and always do maintaince but there is nothing more you can do.

They are saying that more ram then you don't have to swap files too often, which make your hdd spin lesser. Spin lesser mean less energy consumption. Set affinity is done on program running like winamp, Media Players and not to your system, It does not really turn off the other Core but make it idle and the bios will automatically help to reduce some power. But really if you want to push the batt usage you have to set it .

My Acer installed Windows XP stated 3.4 hours. Of course my Acer is 8 cells. So any feedback regarding this?

Hm.. I wonder if the core can push even higher. My Acergemstone core from 475Mhz can easily push up to 600Mhz without any artifact. Yes it is proven 8600GT is more overcloackable. Too bad for my memory is DDR2 so at most can go from 400Mhz to 460mhz.
Of course my 3dmarks06 from 3200 to 3800 by default setting. on windows xp it reach 4k marks.

well it is quite correct some asus notebook equipt with GS series is not having 600mhz as well since the improvement is very little versus the cost of heat. If you are having 15" then it might be different.

OT:Asus have a good design for right hand person. The heat is on the right where it won't burn your left hand.

i believe he is saying the Graphic memory type. All low end mostly equipt with DDR3 in order to increase the speed.

What to do you are only using 8600M GS, eventhough it is DDR3 but the shaders count too less compare to 8600GT even with DDR2.
Conventional laptop cannot do much gaming on it.
Anyway if your finger nail stuck on the keyboard why not purchase a protective keyboard, it help from getting your nail stuck and keep the laptop clean as well.
