This EO cost around RM400++.. Got API certification or not? If doesn't have, why? Just google API certification trademark condition than U will know some got some do not..

1) 400+ RRP not including shipping/taxes. Malaysia as far as i know have not brought in yet. and yes this GR oil is more expensive than even Motul 300v
2) nope. for obvious reasons - racing oil typically contains too much additives/have zero regards to environment. so your comparison listing GR oil is bad.
It is like saying Motul 300v isn't API certified and thus it is bad, when they have a huge listing of their other ACEA/API/JASO certified products.
3) it is actually quite stringent and thus people sought after it. i mean, think about it on the flip side: if it is so easy, why not get it? what, expensive? to O&G that fee is peanuts bro. hell, if some random Kepong/Sg Buloh cheapo oil is also API CERTIFIED, what's your excuse? lol.

looks like they got a bunch of other Syntium 3000 variants, each slightly different. From the spec sheet, I can tell that SE is API SN certified compared to Syntium 3000 LL. For Syntium FR they added Ford and Renault approval.
Petronas got official shop on shopee mall. Just get them there if you worry about getting scammed buying fake oil. Price seems to be okay.

yes and i do recommend getting from that Shopee store as well as a friend is getting from that store and may very well have a UOA sample too soon! *fingers crossed*

and i hope my above post helps you in some understanding as you've been actively seeking answers as of late smile.gif

Tq. Just recently learn about car maintenance and engine oil especially. I've found that how any kind of engine oil can be sold with lack of specification is disturbing. Users only have marketing words to rely on to make decisions.

And today I just learned that most workshop don't give a hoot about the kind of engine oil they pour inside your car.

and what you've said is exactly why i have gathered even bigger interests developing into a passion and ultimately created the pinned technical thread that you have visited.

no BS, all technical information and data.
going as far as obtaining UOA and having actual numbers in used oil samples.

Fucking hell, was so excited to see someone discover a way to tell between fake and genuine oil, and then I stopped reading cuz I couldn't understand the language.

But I'm glad I couldn't understand the language, cuz based on the replies, doesn't seem like much heh

i'm really not convinced until someone can do VOA/UOA lol

there's Ester and a distinct method to identify them, but I'd leave that discussion out of here so that it doesn't get derail to hell lol!

I believe the HX8 is using Group III (highly refined) base oil whereas Helix Ultra is using PAO base oil.
*
no.

Shell Helix Ultra uses GTL Base oil, not PAO.

GTL is better than PAO?
*
No comment better or worse.
It's basically different. Gas to liquid vs poly alpha olefin
