Those who had successfully achieved their ideal body goal all by themselves, and persistently endure all of your temptation and ordeals, I give you my biggest respect.

I hope I can be like those guys. But I have to admit, I have a hard time sticking to it. After my contract with my PT expired, I am getting lazier going back to the gym. Especially since Ramadan is very near, my motivation is completely killed. So how can I gain back my motivation to get fit this Ramadan? I can be dedicated, but without the motivation to follow the fitness road, I'm just another ordinary guy whose imagination is as big as my word.

When I first started my goal is just to commit to going to the gym at least 3 times a week. Before I know it I had been going to the gym for 1 year plus already. Recently I realised that I look better too but I have to admit I'm still far from my dream body. Just make it as a routine like going to work and you won't have to drag yourself to exercise every time.

Fitness is the thing which should never be compromised. In order to live the life with charm, you have to take to take necessary measures related to the physic of your body parts. You have to give some time to gym, exercise, or sports. Am I right?

You don't have control over motivation. It just come and go. Sometimes you watch youtube or saw someone with good body, when suddenly you feel very motivated to get there but end up like now.

Diff ppl got diff approach. You're just not determined enough, probably a person who give up easily for not achieving the desired result in short-term time or when you don't like the work you do, you become lazy. You will try or find other stuff to do.

Dedicated? You are not dedicated enough. I go even I do not want to go. I train even I have the most crap in my mind. It is often the 'agony that you think you will feel in the training' that stops you from going. Trust me, once you have warmed up nothing can stop you. If you do not even want to go and warm up, and try to push through, you are not near to being dedicated, you are lazy.

weight loss is a different aim to body-sculpting / toning /building
weight loss is generally more of a health statement, and really is more important than other body beautifying objectives
really if you are for body toning than a gym is the place and a PT is almost a must
overall people who is into body toning will have lesser weight issue (tho a small to medium framed individual might gain some weight due to muscle development)

Are we talking about motivation here or 'toning' (whatever that means)?

I am demotivated now because I am tired emotionally linked to issue at work. Did I stop? NO. I push through that emotional barrier, leave the baggage outside the gym and train regardless.

I am physically tired because I travel more these days. Driving and business trips. Did I stop? NO. I planned my training timing according to that schedule or vice versa and I seek gyms nearby hotels.

This month is puasa month and the gym I regularly go opens at the time I cannot go. Did I stop? NO. I change my training timing sometimes to odd hours. Or I go other gyms, beating the traffic to get there.

So don't tell me demotivated I don't feel like going. You are just plain lazy. Pull that strength, go in, smell that sweat, warm up. DO IT. Giving yourself excuses, is not dedicated. Looking for excuses is not dedicated.

Weight loss and 'toning' do not need a gym. You can do it anywhere. PT is not a must. Especially those rep counting PTs. Unless you cannot count your own reps. Just read more, watch more.

Did you watch the PM being interviewed just after the elections?
He said ‘don’t get fat, once you do, it will be difficult to lose weight’.
That was his explanation to have the awesome energy at 92.
So tell yourself, I must workout if I want to stay healthy at all ages, if I don’t want to get fat.

if you are not determined enough, you will never reach your goals. Maybe you need to be hit with chronic diseases like I did then only you will change. I fall off time and time again in the past. Because of that i'm pre-diabetic and have hypertension. This was 7 years ago. Because of my dedication to the gym, fitness, I got better. Still a long way to go though.

Im not perfect. On occasions I still binge eat. Meh, still manage to lose weight when I need to. It's all about what you want and how determined you want to achieve it.

Instead of aiming high, why not aim low steady progress? like .5kg of weight or fatloss a month? or replacing your all of your beverages with water? Want to go a step further? learn calorie counting, law of thermogenesis etc....

Progress slowly and steadily. That how I remain motivated. Constant, slow yet steady improvement in areas that I want to focus on. Play the long ball man.

Btw what the f*ck is toning????

Toning is to have a defined muscle. Like having lean muscle. Which usually means shedding fat.

Or somebody can correct me.

People have no idea how hard it is to gain muscle naturally..... So whenever people bring up the topic of body toning... or wanting muscles but not too big... I laugh every single time....

toning is achievable mostly by doing high reps workout or HIIT sort of exercise.

how started: I went to sign up the gym alone out of all sudden. then I managed to influence my friends join up too. we were working out together for about 1 year. however, they weren't consistent and discontinue after that. I started demotivated and getting lazy to hit gym alone. apparently body weight and fat percentage hiked.

looking my body at the mirror, its showing only sorrow and disappointment. I realize the journey has to continue even you are alone. then I continue signing the gym. I have never signed up PT, as it is costly and I don't think its matter when you can download fitness app/ youtube. I start working out by watching youtube, drawing the step by step on post it note and bring to gym, memorizing every reps and position and etc.

until today, I cant say I have achieve my goal but at least I getting better each day. I hit gym 3-4 days a week, joining different classes from HIIT training to Yoga. motivation is within yourself, demotivation is just an excuse to get yourself fall off. I always watch youtube/ instagram (follow fitness pages), set my goal for the day before hitting gym. try out different workout method.

keep it up. journey is within your feet, walk on or stay there forever.

If you do not have muscle, how to define? Loose fats to see bones? And no, there is no muscle too big if you go natural. The hard shit you have to do before you can see results.

Why are you asking me? I just pop in in this thread coz he was asking what the term "toning" meant, and so I tried to give him input on that. Probably you can just quote him so he get your explanation.

Sorry leeyen my answer was meant for ''budakblur'' but I clicked ''reply'' on the wrong #.
Good motivational piece you have there for budakblur.
I meant to say to him that if he was looking to bulk up and be muscle-bound, then the gym is the place to go, but if he's doing it for weight control, thats a different matter that will involve change of diet and lifestyle. Good input you are giving him there
