Hi all,

I just checking with digi(roaming like home), maxis and they said its roaming services will be blocked if we accessing such as google, facebook even we are roaming on home network. As digi package is attractive where they offered 5gb roaming but if it is block and it is make no sense for me to use them.

celcom and u mobile claimed unsure but i can said it will be same and what is the best connection network i can use freely without blocking other than vpn.

Got any expert can give some advise.

thank you

checked with digi and maxis, they said it is blocked due to chinese regulation which follow local setting. I called them and they confirmed this.

Why do you ask others for opinion at first place when you don't open to their experiences?

It's not blocked. Tested with Digi and Celcom while my friend used Maxis.

I used to travel quite often to China.

It's fast la but I was in Beijing, that could make a difference. However, after trying their local SIM like China Unicom which was more friendly for our phones, I feel it's no difference in term of speed. China Mobile is China's no. 1 telco anyway.

I haven't travelled this year to China but my friend did and is also using RLH. He travelled two months ago, can get 30-40Mbps.

But I have just called digi call center and they said google and facebook is blocked, I just worry about this. Digi customer agent said, it is firm as we cannot access unfriendly website that block by chinese govt.

If you sure and confirm and I will try to subcribe digi roaming like home package.

I cannot understand why you are asking here but having a doubt with our experience. I rest my case. Look, I cannot confirm if it's already blocked today because I'm not there now.

If you ask me, I will rather trust users' experience than trusting CS.

I guess I have answered your questions well. Have a nice day.

Stop being ignorant and listen. I based in China up until now. Network is not block. Speed wise is slower than their local simcard. But bearable. Ocassianlly, you'll experience extremely slow speed, but chances are low, probably once a week. Oh, BTW, I'm on Digi. I'm positive maxis does not block as well.

if using data roaming is sort of like VPN
the traffic is routed back to Malaysia first as you can see higher in Ping
previously using FB, ig, whatsapp and google, all works under china mobile network for hotlink roaming

Just a few months ago, if we subscribe to Digi 30 days international roaming, it comes with free 30 minutes of calls to/from Malaysia.

But that free calls seem to have disappeared. Anyone can confirm?
