Fed up cz they retain the poor cvt. Kinda no ball to drop it at all. The project engineer for Saga deserve a raise.

I owned a 2015 Iriz 1.6 Premium, bought 2nd hand 2 years ago. Used to rent Socar last time cz got coupon voucher, so end up with Toyota Altis, Toyota Vios which both with CVT. The issue with Punch CVT by proton, they used clutch based, it just jerking to the max especially start stop go and that is too annoying especially at bumper to bumper jam. That is none for Toyota/ Honda or all other brand CVT, which used torque converter + cvt. It makes the drive go much linear and direct, eventhough it doesn't sound great like normal auto, it reduces the Highway speed crusing rpm, which can get around 2.1-2.2k rpm at 120kmh, thanks to cvt.

But the Punch CVT make the car hit 3k rpm at 120kmh. Which is no different compared to old 4 gear auto. To me among all cvt brand outside, the Punch CVT is the lowest among others.

For sure they said got new TCU tuning, etc2 for new Iriz, Persona, be it at that hardware offered, doubt it improve greatly.

On reliability, from my own judgement, it less reliable vs normal torque converter auto gear. Saw plenty of owner claim CVT gb for Honda HRV, City and also with Nissan Jatco CVT. Last time few of my office mate had to faced hassle on claiming CVT gb for Preve CFE, it takes time. And most of them letgo theirs after got a new gb. Surprisingly only happen tp CFE version.
