I Just changed mine recently @ COSE @ 55k mileage.
Same price with upah additional RM50.
After changed, I realized there are plenty workshop outside selling for half the price with different grade summore (using Ceramic TRW brand)

Sure Proton SC will say void warranty and so on bla2x if changed outside.
Even I have changed my tires and battery outside but why didn't I thought of changing brake pads outside as well?
Not sure to regret or not but anyway what's done is done. Lol.

Since now both the Iriz and Persona shares the same front headlamp parts, does that mean the MC1/MC2 projector type headlamp parts would be more expensive?
I was thinking of changing to Shark Fin antenna from the latest Iriz, do you guys think it can be done? Lol

Some fb show the new iriz rpm at 3k rpm for speed 110kmh.
Iinm the prefacelift show around 2.7k rpm same speed.
*
Dependent on the road gradient also I think. If slightly more higher gradient, engine works harder thus higher rpm. Just my two cent.

Im replacing my accord pad with trw brand, from garage sell.
Rm170 pair for front including installation.

Reason original honda sc will end up brake juddering after certain mileage and cost rm700/pair in front

Does it mean that Honda SC Brake Pad is overprice for its performance?
Is the TRW ceramic the better deal?
Can explain in detail?
Thanks in advance.

Yes in my opinion. The part were made in Thai vs long time ago were made in Japan. For brake, most will complaint it will juddering after hit certain mileage. Settle mine with after market brand.

So far on 2nd cycle with trw brand due to cost n no issues for brake juddering on my car.

I see.
Thanks for advice.
Recently sent my Honda City GM6 for maintenance and brake has screeching sound.
SC recommended to change Ori @ RM600 and mentioned if change after market may have noise not long later.
So not sure who should I trust.
RM600 vs RM170ish is a huge difference.

Is it safe/ok to change brake pad outside SC (aftermarket)?
Is TRW ceramic good?
I read somewhere it produces more dust compared to conventional.

As for my Iriz, I changed the brake pad + brake lubricant + workmanship at Proton SC almost RM380ish.

Well, I guess they decided to copy bulat-bulat  the features after failing twice in their battle with Perodua in Tiara & Savvy...sadly, they forgot copy the 4sp gb...  whistling.gif
Coming from the previous gen Lotus/Proton ride & handling units, the Iriz floats (maybe the tall seats, not really the car's dynamics?)..
I juz sent mine in first week this month @ CoSE, still nope although I paid about RM70 for the TCU/ECU adaption. I would say that my 2014 Iriz is now similar to the black top...
I'm also eagerly waiting for the iRiz settings to be made available...
Why coat when you can wrap? Wrap would be better, if you can find a reputable shop. Coating is just a over hyped wax...  whistling.gif

Tint, I'm good with CareKool Puchong...since the owner shares the same name...  laugh.gif

Hi jVIPERs2,

May I ask what is ECU/TCU adaptation?
How to request this in CoSE?
Is there a complain that has to be made then only they can offer to do this?

Thanks.

Let me share what happened last week to my 7 year old Iriz.

At a long traffic light stop suddenly the gear lever became loose. It can slide to any position without any resistance. So after reaching to a parking spot, tried to put it at P and managed to but the dash is still showing D. The lever bacame stuck now P. Off the engine but cant turn it back on as I think it is still registering in D.

Towed to workshop. Then mechenic told me it's the gear cable issue. Dont know la snapped or loose or what. Got charged RM150 without changing anything (dont know la got slaughtered or not). He said that Preve had this issue.

Well hope it doesnt happen to anyone that is in a critical spot/situation.

Just to share.

Hi all,

Same thing also happened to my 2015 Iriz 1.6 Premium CVT. Few days prior to its failure, it showed initial symptom of unsmooth gear shifting. I have planned to send to Proton SC so I decided to made an appt and postponed to the following week.

My story: On one Sunday (August), was driving to Klang, shifted gear to "N" at the red traffic light. Weather heavy rain. Traffic light turned green, I shifted to "D", it suddenly slipped and gear shifting was very loose. Car didn't want to move forward (D), or backward ® because its last position was registered in "N". Can shift to "P" by using gear shift lock switch. Called insurance tow truck. Arrived 1.5 hour later. Tow back to home.

Got my nearby mechanic to assist, they manually change the gear position to "D" from the front hood. Once in "D", cannot shift to other gear position, otherwise will stuck in "N" again. Drive to the mechanic's SC since Proton SC need appt (that time was Selangor holiday) and need to arrange another towing schedule (very mafan). Mechanic helped me to disassemble the centre handbrake console. They found out the problem and insist to change the whole gear cable when actually it's only the cable bushing plastic has broken causing the gear level to disengage.
Below is the part number:
Cable Assy CVT (PW922758) --> Total damage with workmanship: RM250+

I checked online & proton thread that this is a very common problem among Iriz/Persona/Preve. Mcm very poor QC. doh.gif There are many video tutorial on how to replace this.

One sample video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8_o9yq-dgCg&pbjreload=101

The solution to this is just replacing the gear lever bush (any brand, Daihatsu brand also can) that only costs RM10+.

So it all depends on the mechanic whether they wiling to help you to replace only the gear lever bush instead of the whole cable assy. part since the latter can charge more for workmanship.

Hope this helps. All the best.

Hi all,

Recently my Iriz 2015 air-conditioning cooling sensation has been reduced significantly and at times there was a continuously 'shhh' sound.
Hot weather not so cold as it used to be last time.
Went to two workshop.
Gas has been added last month and then problem persist after few weeks thus added 2nd round gas this month (as a temporary fix) but still couldn't find root cause.
No sight of leak at valve according to mechanic.

Do any of you guys have this experience?
Can share your thoughts?
Is it a sign of cooling coil or condenser coming to an end of lifespan? I heard need to remove dashboard if replace cooling coil.
What's the estimated cost of repair or any recommendation of aircond specialist?

Thanks in advance. smile.gif

Hi,

Need advice.
Currently my Iriz front tyres is showing symptom of bald on the side thread; uneven wear on tyres.
Another symptom is vibration and noise when going through uneven roads/potholes.
Sent to SC and was quoted to change below items:
1. FR absorbers ~RM1.1k
2. Stabilizer link RH, LH
3. Stabilizer bar bush
4. Steering rack ~RM1.1k

Due to budget constraint, I plan to change one of the items (either 1 or 4) quoted depending on which is more severe.
Is it compulsory to change all together at one go?
Appreciate sifu advice.

Thanks in advance.
