Movie Pack = RM25 per month
Add-on: Disney+ = RM5 per month

But standalone Disney+ = RM18.30 per month

If I remove Movie Pack... which channels will be removed ?
*
Current movie pack is hbo,Cinemax, fox movies, fox action movies, fox family movies, tvn movies

In summary:

- You will be automatically eligible for Disney+ Hotstar subscription as long your Astro subscription has Movies pack. However, you must accept the fact that your Astro bill will automatically increase by RM5 extra no matter what, starting 1 June 2021, even if you don't use Disney+ Hotstar.

- Especially for those who subscribe to Super Pack Lite (Movies),  Super Packs or Super Pack Plus customers, you will also be getting RM5 increase on your Astro bill starting June 2021, even if don't use Disney+ Hotstar.

- If you're not happy of the RM5 monthly increase, then you have the option to cancel Movies pack, which means you won't be able to watch HBO, Cinemax and tvN Movies on your Astro as well. But if you've subscribed to package bundles like Super Pack Lite (Movies), Super Pack or Super Pack Plus, then you will have no choice but to accept the RM5 price hike on your Astro bill. Alternatively, you may downgrade to whatever package bundles that doesn't includes Movies pack, such as Super Pack Lite (Sports) or Value Packs.

- Whoever subscribe to Astro Movies pack from 1 June 2021, you will be slapped with 12 months contract just for Movies pack alone. So even if you "suddenly cancel" Movies pack now, and then resubscribe to Movies pack again later on, you'll still get 12 months contract.

- If you're an Astro customer but did not subscribe to Movies pack, you can still enjoy Disney+ by adding RM5 on your Astro bill. But for those who subscribe to Family pack (RM39.95), the same rule applies; you cannot add on any packs/services, including Disney+ Hotstar. Therefore you must be in Starter pack and above to do so.

- Although Fox Movies, Fox Family Movies and Fox Action Movies (413, 414, 415 respectively) will cease on 1 Oct 2021, whether Astro would offer channel replacement or not, there shall be no price reduction thereafter. Alternatively, go and use Disney+ Hotstar to make you feel more "worth paying".

- That RM5 mentioned earlier, haven't include SST. So after include 6% SST, it'll be RM5.30.

Hmm I don’t think I read anywhere that if you did not subscribe movie pack you can get Disney + by adding RM5.you need to have movie pack/any Superpack that includes Movie pack in order to enjoy Disney+. So if you have Starter pack it will be Starter pack + movie pack price and not starter pack + RM5 Disney+ addon

To downgrade package, you can only do it by contacting customer service (03-95433838) or walk in to service centre. This 2 methods only.
Send email to wecare@astro.com.my, or WhatsApp, or social media PMs, all those they won't layan.

The price you see on Astro website, is only for new customers.

Instead of cancel and then sign up again just to get the offer, you might as well call Astro and say you're not happy paying so much, but let them know that you are still interested stay with Astro. Then they would offer you some churn offers, such as RM30 rebate for 24 months or free channel preview for a limited time or something... Churn offer, is usually offered to those who intent to pay lesser to Astro, or wanting to terminate Astro. It is part of their effort to influence you to continue stay with Astro.
*
So my current package is 92.55 and Astro is telling I need to pay 121.90 to upgrade to super pack lite movies when they are offering it on their website for 97.50 lol
So much effort to go thru, just to give them extra revenue lol

Might be the first one.
There are so many upcoming OTT platforms coming soon.
Disney+ will not be the only OTT platform will be coming to Astro.
There are some rumours that Discovery+ and Netflix will come to the Astro platform also.
And Astro is planning to aggregate 5 to 6 OTTs by the end of 2022 and 5 to 6 more before the end of 2023.
They already have iQiyi and HBO Go on board, definitely they will not stop this.
So expect the Astro Ultra/Ulti Box will behave like Android TV box soon.

https://www.nst.com.my/business/2021/04/684...ubscribers-says

Maybe can research a bit about Sky Q UK, Astro might be heading to be like Sky Q UK platform.
*
Maybe it’s like FOXTEL IQ4 box where you can access your Netflix account as well
FYI Astro TV current CEO is from foxtel

The prices you see on their website, is only applicable for new customers only, and that rebate amount only lasts for 12 or 24 months. Means from 13th or 25th month onwards, it will revert back to the original monthly price. So unless you are new Astro customer, please read the T&Cs carefully ya.
The pricing that is being highlighted on Astro website (https://product.astro.com.my/tv) is cater for new customers only. Example:
user posted image
Value Pack RM80.00 RM64.00
Starter Pack RM61.32 RM49.06
Super Pack Lite (Movies) RM115.00 RM92.00
The price that marked "strikethrough" is actually the package's original pricing, and that is the price that existing Astro customers should refer to.
Super Pack Lite (Movies) of RM115 now, shall become RM120 from June 2021 onwards (price excl. SST) nod.gif
1. Yeah totally understand the discount is limited to 24 months only
2. The CS suggested me to try calling the tele marketing team in order to check if I’m eligible for the same pricing on the Astro website
They do sound a bit surprised when I said I wanted to upgrade my package at a promotional price rather than keeping my current package that I have at a lower rate, when I initially stated that I wanted to terminate my current package
3.Don’t understand why Astro wants to give itself and customers so much administrative hassle, should have just allowed the subscribers to change their plan on the website to whatever promotion available and still following the tnc which is the 12 or 24 months contract whichever applicable.rather than giving themselves more problem to solve, when there are pricing differences issue and needs to involve MCMC or asking customer to terminate existing plan and getting a new plan
Anyway this will be one of the question to the CEO in this year Astro shareholders meeting

QUOTE(joshhd @ May 5 2021, 12:35 AM)
For existing customers, as long your intention is to enjoy a promo by paying lesser than original price, or to downgrade package, or in any form that could potentially affect their income/revenue in the long term, they will make it as inconvenient as possible.
So next time if you ever wonder "why Astro is causing customers so much of an administrative hassle", try to think this way: Do you intend to pay less on your Astro bill, or you want to pay something more than already is?
As long it is not "explicitly illegal by law", they will do whatever it takes for profits and the benefit of the company, not us (the customers) and it may not be necessary a win-win.

It is their business strategy to welcome new customers at a special promo price, meanwhile existing customers would get churn offers only when they are about to dispute/downgrade/terminate its services. Otherwise, it's just business as usual.

Always remember this: Astro is a profit-oriented company, not customer-oriented company.
*
Well let’s think it logically my current package is 92.55,if they were to allow me to get the special promo price easily only they could have a happy customer and earn extra 5 per month.5x 12 is 60 per year and let’s just assume 100,000 customers have the same plan as I do and wants to upgrade so that’s 7.2m in a year of lost revenue or 14.4 million (considering the RM5 price increase effective next month)
And this “administrative hassle cost” might have cost Astro even more (consider the man hours wasted to handle complaints relating to price differential)
Anyway I guess this is not the place for us to argue about these.in conclusion, you want to save money on your subscription it would be an “administrative hassle”

Let’s just go back to Disney + on Astro, technicalities of the STB and channel discussion

Look like hotstar going to disappoint indian customers here
So far they only mentioned about starvijay contents
It won't be full hotstar content like how available in Singapore & India

Quoting an article on variety.com

Disney said that it has signed multi-year content supply agreements with leading Malaysian studios including Skop Productions, Revolution Media Films, Primeworks Studios, WAU Animation, Act 2 Pictures, Les’ Copaque Production and Red Films.

This enables Disney Plus Hotstar to include new Malaysian movies and series at launch or shortly afterwards. Several “will skip theaters and launch straight on the streaming service,” Disney said.

These include “J2: J Retribusi,” from Primeworks, TGV and Infinitus; “Zombitopia” from Skop; and horror picture “Ada Hantu,” starring Hairul Azreen. Another, “Ejen Ali The Movie 2,” will also stream exclusively on the platform after a theatrical run.

The platform has also licensed a library full of other Malaysian content including films like “J Revolusi,” Tombiruo,” “KL Special Force,” “Ejen Ali The Movie,” “Upin & Ipin: Keris Siamang Tunggal,” “Munafik,” “Istanbul Aku Datang!,” the Rock franchise (“Rock,” “Rock Oo!,” “Rock Bro!,” and “Rock 4: Rockers Never Dai”), “Talentime, Mukhsin,” “The Kid From The Big Apple 2,” “Vedigundu Pasangge,” “Evolusi KL Drift 1 & 2,” “KL Gangster 1 & 2,” “Gol & Gincu 1 & 2,” “Guang” and “Redha and Roh.” Acquired local series include “Wifi Sebelah Rumah” and “Semanis Senyumanmu.”

Reflecting the country’s multi-ethnic roots, the platform will also host smaller bundles of Indian and Chinese-language titles. This includes Hindi and Tamil language films and series “Thuppakki,” “Pandian Stores,” and “Vishwaroopam 2,” as well as shows brought over from Star Vijay. Chinese films include Hong Kong-made titles “Infernal Affairs,” “Linewalker 2,” and “Ip Man 4”, and mainland Chinese offerings include “The Deer and the Cauldron,” “The Legend of Haolan” and recent Taiwan art house title “Silent Forest.”

Looks like a lot of focus on local content

Ok an update to my case
After keep on arguing my case with Astro CS they finally changed tone and reply as per below
1. Existing subscribers are eligible too for website promotions with some terms and conditions. They mentioned something about promo code for existing customers not yet loaded in the backend system when the Customer Resolution team called
2. We wish to inform you that we have checked your account background and we have requested from Business Team for your account to be honored with the 20% discount of your current subscription for 24-months contract. This is based on your loyalty of account since 20XX and a good payment standing
Case closed smile.gif

Astro CEO reply is censorship and content control is under the control of the streaming site, as now it’s not regulated by government

Yes. I did a blind scan earlier, turns out all SD & HD channels that were on high Ku band earlier due to Measat 3 satellite outage, is now back to the low Ku band frequency range (10.7-11.7GHz).
Seems that they managed to recover the satellite successfully. Good news indeed biggrin.gif
Astro CEO in this afternoon AGM state that is the purpose of the 30% backup transponder satellite capacity, to tackle issues like this outage.apparently they are only using 70%
