Almost 3 weeks, and they still have not fixed the issue over ch.148..

the TV just died is a Samsung, was pretty unhappy with it's crappy Tizen OS, so planning to change to other brand then and saw a cheap Sharp Google TV, but remembered last time when changing to Ultrabox the CS asked me if I'm using Sharp TV or not, hence the question here lo...

Since recently I've not seen anyone complaining about the Sharp TV compatibility issue with the ultrabox, I guess its HDCP is no longer an issue.

No 4K UHD coverage for Paris 2024 Olympics, because the rights owners/agency does not offer 4K UHD rights to Malaysia

I did some digging regarding this "right owners" thinggy.
So I found out that the media rights holders for Paris 2024 Olympics, which covers for Malaysia and some other countries, is a company called Dentsu

Apparently it has always been Dentsu since 2018...

As I do further Googling about this Dentsu company relating to the Olympics, I see some "interesting" stuff...

But what is happening to Dentsu, does not directly suggests that it is related whether are they providing 4K UHD rights to broadcasters this time or not...

Anyway, now we know which are the countries is under the care of Dentsu when it comes to Olympics related coverage.

How come the number of channels are lesser than what we get (In Malaysia, we get 16-18 channels?). When there's concurrent events, how?

It seems to suggest that Taiwan managed to have a new agreement with the Olympics (which somehow bypasses Dentsu?), and Chunghwa Telecom will become the broadcaster themselves?
Meaning, besides having their own Taiwan Mandarin commentary audio, they will also create their own on-screen graphics and overlays during the live events.

Becoming their own broadcaster for the Olympics, and then distribute it to the Taiwan viewers, is not just expensive, but definitely will burn a lot a lot of money oh... 🫢

I doubt they'll provide ALL Olympics channels for free to every Taiwan viewers there, unlike what we get in Malaysia...

Taiwan seems to be exceptional case here...

Even if the International Olympics Committee (IOC) would to override the rights that Dentsu holds for the particular country, I believe it is still Dentsu's call whether to allow it or not.
And if they do, the broadcaster would likely get everything as clean feed, without any on-screen graphics and overlays that most countries out there gets by default (in English?).
"Clean feed" meaning, you won't see those scores, elapsed timings, who gets gold/silver/bronze medal, as those on-screen graphics have to be put up by the broadcaster. Just clean video.

If the broadcaster has the capability, manpower resources and money to add their own on-screen graphics and overlays, as if like "do it almost everything by themselves" without going through readily-available broadcaster Dentsu, then yeah, I believe that's what Taiwan is doing.

I believe both Astro and Unifi TV are just getting the readily-available live feeds from the broadcaster (Dentsu), as it is "easier and good enough" for them already.
And then, it is up to how Astro and Unifi TV would manage the scheduling of the TV channels that is meant to cover Olympics, like which one to show the particular sporting events to the respective channels, be it live or repeat, or deprioritise it by showing it at a later time or on the 6 Astro GO only channels (maybe those sports where majority of Malaysians least interested of, like kayaking or equestrian? I don't know, I just guess...)?

So I think what Astro meant by "comprehensive coverage" is more likely coming from Astro Arena channels instead, especially live interviews of Malaysian contingents on-site in Paris, which is what Astro Arena been doing in the past. Even RTM don't do that, the most they do is just in-studio discussions with guests.

Astro used to offer Tokyo 2020 Olympics in 4K UHD, but that was back in 2021.

Then today, Dentsu themselves don't offer 4K UHD broadcasts anymore? Until Taiwan appears to have a new agreement with Olympics directly, to provide some 4K UHD coverage and some other exclusive stuffs, which is assumably to cost much more expensive.

In my opinion, even if Astro would to bypass Dentsu and deal directly with International Olympics Committee (IOC) which appears similar like what Taiwan is doing, I don't think they will get enough return of investment (ROI) for doing that, cuz I see the hype for Olympics in Malaysia isn't as popular as EPL or FIFA... Maybe they think it is not worth doing so, and would rather put more focus on local football like MFL? 🤷‍♂️

And plus, if I'm not mistaken, Unifi TV is the first one to announce that they will offer complete coverage of the Olympics, and ALL channels will be made for FREE, even to non-subscribers.
This is a good thing for consumers, as this left Astro with no choice, but to offer the same to all Astro customers instead of putting it on a paywall of Sports Pack like what they've been doing in the past.

Anyway, it's a shame that we won't be getting 4K UHD broadcasts for the Olympics this time. 
Hopefully things will change on the next upcoming 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, where the rights holder will be Infront Sports as awarded by the IOC, which takes over Dentsu's role.

ADEX had been reducing and it is clearly evidenced with the recent EURO 2024 match where there was hardly any sponsorship compared to EPL.
I think it's because SPOTV holds the exclusive rights for Malaysia & Singapore, so advertisers must go through SPOTV if they want their ads to be shown on SPOTV Stadia channels.

Joshd already mentioned in post #19407 that our Malaysia Olympic feed is provided by Dentsu and unless we bypass them else it is only HD as that is what Dentsu is being provided.

Just my opinion, but I think the feed that both Unifi and astro are getting is same from Dentsu. It is a package for our country Malaysia. So why Unify TV have 17 while astro is 16 + 2, means some of the channel is a mixture or self produce from the original feed, for example highlights, guest interview and etc.

I tried to login to astro go/astro website account, but this error appears.
What should I do?

There's nothing wrong promoting it... It's a new product that they want to reach out to people anyway...
But then ah, not only this 2 fellas are too hard sell the Sooka TV stick, but it's as if they are reading each and every word from a script that is provided by Sooka themselves
