If you sign the new package and contract 24 months, you get the rm25 monthly rebate, which is the quoted price.
*
Uncontracted price right now = price after your contract finishes and no more discount.

it's an enticement for subscribers to enter into another round of contract for the discount.

He tried a diff ultrabox but totally no signal, then we tested the old ultrabox with a diff newer tv and no problem. So we concluded is tv problem.

Now that u have similar issue i think its not tv broken mayb just older tvs not compatible.

Old tv is a samsung btw
*
Sounds like s/w fuck-up. That pink message comes from TV or from Ultrabox?

So yesterday's HDCP was working and no longer today?

So how many Ultrabox in Malaysia suddenly caught in such predicament?

Astro think new compatible TV is free by the roadside to suddenly invalidate what was already working before? Such costly prank on existing Ultrabox users.

Sad for your case.. Just not at the right time.

I decided to buy indoor antenna and hopefully can tune to MyTV as free standby in case of raining + no mood for shows on streaming apps.

Unifi TV also have those same standard channels as Astro's and MyTV's, but the quality is horrendous i opined TM qualified to get its broadcast licence revoked and shredded.

Cannot add/remove to/from your existing subscription.

I'm not sure if this would work, but you can give it a try if you haven't.
Send an email to wecare@astro.com.my and tell them you want to upgrade to Ultra Box but you insist on maintaining your current legacy packages, and you don't want to upgrade to the new packs.
Remember to include your Astro account number in that email as well.

And then see what is their email reply. Once they reply you, do share us a screenshot of their email reply to see what they say, if you don't mind la.
*
I sent one just now after your good suggestion.
I'll see if I can post a gist of response if any later.

-- update --
ASTRO refuses to allow, must change subscription. Insert shameful plug of greater value.

(I opined it's greater value to shareholders, not subscribers.)

In that case, GGWP then.
Either you stuck with your PVR box and the legacy packs forever, or you switch to the new packs to upgrade to Ultra Box.

I mean... Ok, they say "make any changes to your subscription", but it doesn't specify "make changes to your Astro box", right? Hmmm, some grey area there? At least Astro should allow existing customers to upgrade their box while maintaining legacy TV packages mah...

Seems to me that Astro want its customers to migrate to the new packs by force, as if almost no mercy or chance is given to those who wishes to stay on legacy packs. sweat.gif

nah, they just sealed the deal tight. just bad timing.

i will spend current contract as-is. they are still obliged to honour replacing the box one-to-one if and when it becomes faulty (no, i don't mean to perform vandalism; normal wear-and-tear, especially the HDD inside). i hope they won't cheap out if that happens; give me back the similar box, don't go lower.

I want to ask something old package do we need change out? Because some guy just phone said all packages needs reset and I need change new decoder as currently I am listed no package.

Once I said I don't want be under new contract if change decoder he hangs up. My decoder was replaced early this year still old type not the newest one.
*
no need to change if unnecessary. all current subscribers remain as-is, not mandatory to move to new bundle.

probably salesperson out to make a kill in the confusion caused from ASTRO reorganising packs. macam tak ada adab if straight away hang-up.

starting 9th november, you'll end up paying higher even if just to match back your existing channels.

e.g. you'll need to subscribe to 200 all-bundled-in-even-if-you-don't-watch channels in 5 cannot-avoid packs as opposed to previously cheaper 100 channels in previous 15 ala-carte packs.
(numbers inflated to exaggerate ASTRO's remixing unpopular channels into previously popular packs then bumping price)

Bro what i meant, lets say i subscribed netflux premium which allows 4 log ins. I log in using astro credentials.  Can my family members use the same ID and log un to netflix on their smart tv or android  boxes? In ither word's can astro netflix ID used on other devices besides your own ultra box? Thanks
*
Think of it as, now you can pay using credit card, prepaid card sold in 7-Eleven, and Direct Operator Billing (telco, and now add Astro).

What Astro did is basically provide another payment avenue.

The Netflix account otherwise is the same old login you are used to.

In fact, there is nothing special about the pricing paid through Astro.
You go channel 200, the Netflix Standard that Astro is charging is RM42.45, which is price before 6% tax (RM45 after tax).
You want Netflix Premium? Add RM9.43 (RM10 after tax).

Nothing special. And yet Astro reorganized all it packs and charges higher than before.

If you already have Netflix account, you might as well continue without having Astro contract bunding.

For Ultra Box, you can change its operating mode from Satellite mode to Plug & Play mode by performing Restore Factory Setting.
What you see as "Ultra Plug & Play Box" and "Ultra Box", it is actually the same box. It's just that in Astro's system, whether this box is tagged under Satellite mode or Plug & Play mode only.
Technically you can change the mode anytime you want.
*
for the ultraboxes assigned satellite mode, if not connected to satellite, can it network-stream those channels that are otherwise not available to those ultraboxes assigned PnP mode?

My box is original for use with satellite. Now when it rains, it will ask if you want to switch to Internet. No problem there. It seems to me that you can only watch the program on Internet for about 30min only. Then it will pause and ask if you want to go back to Live program. Is this true? Happened once or twice only when I need to switch but I think that was what happened.
*
i wouldn't know; 30th october Astro refused to upgrade because using "legacy" tv, then ngam on 9th november received new 4k tv also got refused because on "legacy" packs.

but from marketing materials, the PnP-mode boxes cannot view certain channels due to restrictions imposed by content providers. that's why I'm asking if the same restriction applies to satellite-mode boxes but without satellite feed.

Mine is also legacy pack. It was called HD package last time. Not remember how much it started at but now becomes I think RM160+.

The restriction is due contents not belong to Astro but streamed by content providers as I understood it. These cannot be recorded.
*
am i misunderstanding as "cannot view altogether" as opposed to "can view but cannot record"?

Have no idea on PnP, What channel(s)? Maybe Astro has no channel from satellite to Internet?
*
hmmm, now i read it again, which channel become unavailable also depends on PnP-mode streaming through which ISP.

but again; can satellite-mode boxes network-stream these channels if they lost satellite feed?
