Hye..

I need help if anyone can advise..

I am at my mom's house. I have bought her a Mi soundbar. Her samsung tv speaker got problem. Her tv is only connected to Astro. How can i control the volume using the astro remote? Right now the astro remote is already paired with the tv.

Do i connect the soundbar to astro or the tv? And which output should I use?

For your case, I suggest you to reset your Astro remote control so that you can adjust the volume on your Astro box rather than to your TV.

May I know whether the:
- TV has digital optical output or not? If not sure, what's the TV brand and model?
- Does the soundbar have HDMI input and output ports (for HDMI ARC), or digital optical or digital coaxial ports?

Which Astro box model is she using? Is it Ultra Box?

Tq for you response sir.

She is using a Samsung TV. My answer is yes for all your questions. She is using the first gen byond pvr box. With the grey/silver control panel on the right.

That PVR box has built in WiFi, right? Then that's not first gen PVR box... It's considered second or third gen of Astro PVR box, also known as DMT5 or DMT5v2.

There are multiple solutions to this.
But the easiest one would be just connect HDMI cable from Astro PVR box to your soundbar's HDMI input, and then another HDMI cable connects from soundbar's HDMI output to your TV.

Funny you say that. The soundbar has no HDMI port laugh.gif

LOL...
The soundbar has either digital optical output, right?
**also commonly known as S/PDIF

Then connect a digital optical cable from TV to the soundbar.

Yes. But do I unpair the astro remote with the tv? Coz I cant control the volume. If so, I need to use tv remote for volume and astro remote for astro?

That's one of the benefit for PVR box.
If it's cloud recording via Ultra Box, then it might be different story.
*
Thank you Sir. Actually I cant quite let go of my PVR box. Some of the things in there arent available to be downloaded through Ultra Box. I have a special child who sometimes needs to be calmed through what I have recorded on PVR.

I balik kampung also I can bring my PVR and rexordings can be watched. My kampung has no internet so ultrabox is a bit useless in terms of cloud recordings

If you want to prevent unwanted experience as such (e.g. my parents are not very good in technology stuff, easily convinced by telemarketers on upselling offers...), the best way is change the Astro account ownership from your parent's name to your own name. If the account has any ongoing contracts on Astro, it will still remain as it is, even after you transfer ownership.

If you see HDCP error when viewing UHD channel/content on Astro, the official solution is you will have to buy new UHD TV, where almost all 4K UHD TVs nowadays are already HDCP 2.2 compliant.
But convincing people to buy new TV because of HDCP issue is not gonna work anyway, so the workaround for this issue is, you'll need to use HDMI splitter or HDMI switcher that is HDCP 2.2 compliant. Here are some examples:

HDMI switcher:

Would this enable to watch the 780 UHD channel?

Thanks. So is it true UHD quality or does it just let us watch the channel in normal HD?

Hye guys..just want to say something.

I had CNN on at 1am. Suddenly the astro message saud siaran tergendala - service interruption. Then when it came back on, it showed African Voices programme when it should be showing Amanpour as stated in the EPG.

So I decided to check my 'other' source for CNN and found that they were showing Amanpour and discussing the Israel-Palestine conflict.

So Astro is tampering with the feed and deciding what can.and cannot be shown?

Ah, Astro uploaded a new video about its amazing and fantastic "Live Pause" feature:
PVR box users since 2010 be like: Hah. So funny.  nod.gif

- Astro PVR box were introduced since 2010, and we've been enjoying your so called 'Live Pause' feature ever since  dry.gif
- The 'Live Pause' that we've been using on PVR box, doesn't skip backwards 60 seconds like the Ulti/Ultra Box does
- Overall playback performance is so much responsive and reliable on the PVR box.
- Harsh to say, but that's the truth.

If you wanna know more, read this:
