Ok la. I'll make it simple for you guys.

I got a confirmation from Astro earlier, they told me that NJOI free SD channels will remain on Njoi platform until 2022.

Which means in other words, these 6 free SD channels which is available on Njoi platform now, will NOT be made available in HD for Njoi viewers:
- Astro Prima (125)
- Astro Oasis (126)
- Astro Xiao Tai Yang (344)
- Astro AEC (346)
- CCTV 4 (375)
- Astro Arena (801)

Example, let's say from May 2021 onwards (after all the SD cessation exercise ends), you want to watch either Astro Prima (CH105 HD/125 SD) or Astro AEC (CH306 HD/346 SD) channel.

If you're using Astro (except Ulti/Ultra Box users of course), you will realise that CH125 and CH346 have gone "disappear/missing" from your channel list.
Hence, you can only watch the HD version of the corresponding channels which is CH105 and CH306.

However, if you are using Njoi, you will see that CH125 and CH346 still appear on your channel list, while CH105 and CH306 doesn't appear on the channel list just like now. Yes, Njoi viewers can only watch the channels in SD quality, while Astro customers get to watch it only in HD quality.

So this time you might wonder "how come like that?" Then let me continue on first.

Hence, you'll realise that only Njoi prepaid channels are being upgraded to HD, while Njoi free SD channels aren't being upgraded to HD quality. So if you wonder how come like that? The answer is simple: "It's free stuff, what you expect? That is the treatment you get (Njoi customer) for using free stuff."

Hope my answer above clarifies all your confusions.

And yeah, who knows, this info above is subject to change? Lol.

From technical perspective, yes, it is wasting satellite transponder bandwidth.

From business perspective, doing so will convince Njoi customers to upgrade to Astro.

If they really go ahead and upgrade those Njoi free SD channels into HD quality channel so easily to Njoi customers, this could means that from customer point of view, this is like "Oh, since I watch Astro Prima/AEC regularly on Njoi without paying monthly subscription like Astro, and now I can enjoy them in HD quality, so why should I upgrade to Astro anyway?"

Get what I mean? Unique Selling Point must be there, you see...
So if Astro sets an estimated target of until 2022 (although it is subject to change), that also means they got no rush to quickly cease those 6 free SD channels mentioned earlier completely, which would benefit Njoi viewers.

Astro is smart one, not dumb one. 😎😎

For Nat Geo Wild being upgraded to HD for Njoi prepaid, no surprise lor... Because you pay to watch mah... Priority sure given to those who pays.

The STB operating mode of Satellite (self-install) could indicate that Astro might planning to implement an alternative installation option in the future to allow the user like ourselves, to install Astro box by ourselves instead of rely on Astro installer/technicians?
Hah, they learnt the hard lesson last year during MCO 1.0, where no technical visits is allowed at all for few consecutive months, and customer that faces technical issues tend to suffer, is it?

While IPTV Multicast (For installer only) refers to Astro IPTV service, where this option can't be self-installed on our own due to obvious technical reasons (Technician need to make sure the VLAN Tagging for Linear TV is up, Multicast up, IGMP Joint Test shows "Pass", which requires some skill set and not everyone knows that...)

But.... If it is self install, and does not rely on technicians.... Then how are we going to get the Astro box in the first place?
I guess is, self-collect from nearest Astro service centre, or Astro will deliver the Astro set-top-box to our doorsteps through parcel delivery?
If Astro box would to be delivered as parcel to our doorstep in near future, and then we self-install the Astro box.... Hmmmm, interesting

How to force software update on your Ulti/Ultra Box
1. Power off/unplug the power supply to your Ultra Box
2. Then, switch on the power.
3. Once you see a dimly lit orange/pink colour light indicator light up in front of your Ultra Box, use your Astro remote control, point towards the Ultra Box, press and hold the power button (once pressed, don't let go). You'll see the pink colour indicator on the front panel of your Ultra Box blinks repeatedly. Ignore that. Continue holding on pressing the power button, until you see the "Startup Options" page on your TV, like this:

4. Once you reach that page (you can let go the power button now), press 1
5. Then press 1 again. Now it download and reinstall the latest software update. Wait for about 5-10 minutes, it will reboot automatically.
6. You shall be getting the latest official/stable software version available for your Astro box model.

This one you got to ask Astro Awani team already....
Ask them, why is the TV channel of the Most Trusted News Brands in Malaysia named Astro Awani is still in SD quality?

I'm not sure is it because, the main TV studios used from the Malaysia's most trusted news brand, Astro Awani, have not yet fully upgrade to HD quality cameras or what.....

You're using Njoi box, isn't it?
Astro AEC HD isn't available for Njoi viewers, yet... Only the SD version (CH 346) is available for Njoi viewers.
