After you have installed Unifi at your home, things to do:

1. Upgrade your router to a good performance router because router provided by TM have poor performance.
2. Use wired connection (LAN Cat 6 cable) when gaming because using wireless connection spikes up the ping.

Depends on where you're pinging. 4ms is the best I have to Speedtest servers closet to me.

Overwatch (SEA) server? Ping to SG is around 12ms.

You need to run on 5GHz or cable. Set router QOS settings for gaming. Ping to SYD is around 150ms as reported by in-game latency.

Cat5e is rated up to 1,000MBps for up to 30m at least? You should be fine on 100MBps

Oceanic server pings home around 150ms. World if you join a US raid around 300ms as the connection routes from SYD to US

However at times very high pings (seldom) that makes the game unplayable. Use WTFast which will hold pings in the 250ms range. Seldom is like couple of days every many months

i play overwatch on 100mbps Unifi and the lowest ping i get is 17ms, nowadays around 34ms. It's depend on your location also. but if play CS:GO, definitely single digit ping.

btw, i'm using stock dlink router and wifi.

Stock D-Link is on 2.4GHz which is prone to wifi interference plus wifi is weak.

Plus buffer bloat can be bad. The little box is pretty amazing considering its age.

I'm an Overwatch player too, location at Klang, Selangor, package is 800mbps. Ping to TM is about 2ms, ping to Singtel SG is about 10ms, Overwatch normally is about 20ms~25ms, best I'd seen is 17ms, worst is about 28ms, but I can't really feel the different between 17ms to 28ms, even with my 144hz monitor.

So don't keep you eyes on the ping in game, just enjoy it, any ping below 30ms is barely noticable, I've seen ppl with 100ms ping but still 4 golds, lol.

if high ping doesnt affect the game, I am fine with it..
the problem is it leads to game lag and random dc..is damn frustrating. sad.gif

What's the actual problem you are facing? Are you connect it with LAN cable or Wi-Fi?

Having the same issue as well currently. No problem with speed but online ps4 game lags every 15 seconds for few seconds. So frustrating. Happens to me after I changed the modem to the new small white Huawei model. The previous one (silver model from 2014), had no problem with it at all. Tm technician came the other day and thought problem was solved but nope. No thinking of finding the old model back but no idea where

Maybe you can try to reconnect to get another IP and test again, for example, I always use speedtest app to test the connection to Singtel server, some IP gave me 10ms+- ping, while other IP gave me 190ms ping.

The reason why I choose Singtel to test is because many server located at SG, from my experience I can tell almost half IP offered by TM are bad and the other half is good, so every time when I restart my router, I will reconnect again and again until I get the good IP.

is it related to the modem or the router? From another thread it mention that the router provided sux-tplink ac1200
for the modem not sure if is there any new firmware for that?
how do you logged the issue and ask them to come? You just tell them the gaming ping is sux?

Have you tried a VPN connection that might help, or can you swap another router to test?
