Ignoring the flamer ...

Hopefully the localised version gets more support as it is more affordable for us. Remember, the more support you give, the more games they can localise.

hi, honestly i wouldnt want to have even the boxes to be in BM, yeah maybe it is just the back part but looking at it, as a games collector (sort of), i feel something is not right.... hmm.gif

not to say i wanna trash any language or wat, but the language printed there makes it look cheap...

sorry to be so honest

im pretty sure there are quite a number of ppl out there who doesnt like this either...

still i would go for the original imported version.... don get me wrong, i still try to buy original games, and orginal as in the one in english

but localised versions is a no no

i hope this can bring down the prices of original games... as in the one in english.....

anyway imagine (just an example) paying MYR 900k to get a Porsche Carrera GT with the engine n the body n the quality, but instead of the Porsche logo, they put proton.... sure u also tak suka la.... pay so much for that crap? rclxub.gif

Well, aside from the fact that its not in English, the work that they put into the boxes and manuals is comparable to the native versions. They match the font pretty well, the paper quality isn't like ass and the pages don't look like they were scanned into a PC, had the English text removed and then have the BM text flowed (Very badly) in followed by being printed using a low resolution printer (Which was what the Dawn of War manual felt to me).

PS. for all you localized Stalker owners, you can just look inside the game disc and the English manual is in there under pdf format whistling.gif

gestapo: He hates his national language... I know ppl who hate their entire racial heritage. Its opinion and he's entitled to it.

Again, you're reply to him was the issue. You could've addressed it more tactfully but you chose otherwise.

before localising STALKER and Supreme Commander into malay, we at New Era here had considered a lot of what was discussed here.

Dawn of War was a failure because it's a warhammer game, the content had to be in English! the malay translation killed phrases like: For the Emperor! so, it was doomed to failed.

i made sure the translation stayed true to the meaning this time, and phew, was it tough flipping through my dictionary a hundred times over!

many customers like the idea of buying cheaper original games at the expense of language. honestly, with all the games collected, only collects dust. frankly the dust might have covered up the words!

fans who love to collect games in english, are a small market, niche i must say. both localised STALKER and Supreme Commander did fairly well and it hit the right spot with the larger market share: those who want to buy games irregardless of language.

a big thank you to you people!

there are people who spend prudently, thus choosing the most affordable game. i'm sure one day everyone wont have time to play so many games and hence will opt to buy the cheaper ones to make up for the lack of time=money.

we're probably going to localise Ghost Recon Advance Warfighter 2. still negotiating on it but we hope to carry on localising.

Thailand did a great job with localisation and it also took quite a while before it was accepted. hopefully, we can achieve the same in a shorter time frame.

face it, with our exchange rate so high, its unlikely games will be cheap for the next few years so localisation will and might be the only way to go. also, u wont see EA localising their games as they are already locally manufactured for the S.E.A. region, hence a more affordable price of RM 129.90 for C&C3. but still above the RM 100 mark.

a localised porsche?

localised games are still reproduced in the exact quality as the international versions. manual is still in black and white, the boxes are still squishable and cd-keys still work. so if my porsche is going to have a change in language at the expense of price, definitely will consider (if it is still affordable!!!!)

not only that, cars like porsche are for the ultimate collector. games aren't in fact. Transformer toys cost 3 times more than games and most of them aren't even played....

so gentleman my RM one thousand cents, its your call for the games industry.

i hope i can walk into a game store in Malaysia that rivals Singapore and Thailand one day. do you want to do the same?

bro, like i said it is just an example, u still get the carrera gt from porsche, the only difference is that it is cheaper, and the logo they change to proton

to some ppl, having a porsche for 900k with a proton logo is ok, they save maybe around 600k

to some others, they prefer to fork out 1.5 mil to get just the porsche logo..

im just saying im second type, and there are others out there too. yes a game is just rm 79, but don forget, to the malaysian working class, 79 to 159 for a game is considered a luxury (don forget we have our ultimate *localised* version hmm.gif ), so some may think, if they fork out their hard earned money on an original game, they wouldnt wan to buy something which may look inferior or not so original in a way

still i hope having localised versions will bring down the prices of all original games... i din say its a bad thing ok? doh.gif

finally, another example for you to understand ppl type b, there is the localised version of the peugeot 207 (or is it 206) by naza, it costs you almost 70k for local version but with the Naza logo instead of Peugeot, the original Peugeot 207 cos around 90 - 110k (i guess), just my own observation, it seems there are more peugeot 207s on the road compared to the naza 207 whistling.gif

u get my idea? some ppl when they pay an amount of money to obtain a luxury, they wan the true original, not some localised version sweat.gif and original games are a luxury to many
