The preview after Captain America was underwhelming and now this trailer looks completely and utterly devoid of any life. Basically, it looks like a promo for a WWE wrestling match. I'll watch this - only out of curiosity.

I know Nolan has made logical/continuity errors in films but the part where ScarJo's hair broke a man's face made me laugh. laugh.gif

As most of you know, I had the pleasure of watching this film last night in an advanced screening. Not only do I think it is a fantastic movie, but I am very much looking forward to seeing it again and again opening weekend. I rarely pay to see a film more than once in theaters but I doubt can resist seeing this one every weekend for the next month or two. It's.. simply.. that.. good.

Were there disappointments? A few small ones, definitely. But that only has to do with personal preference and NOT because of the actual storytelling. There is triple the action from the first film, better dialog, sharper effects and a solid story any moviegoer with common sense and a bit of good taste will thoroughly enjoy.

To put it simply, if you liked the first film, you'll love this one. It's not only a fanboy or girl's wet dream but easily one of the best and most well thought out comic book movies we're ever been given.
That was the review for the insanely awesome......

Just caught this this afternoon and I enjoyed it enough. It is exactly as what the trailers have sold to us - a lot of quick wit and action in between. But as with ALL of the Marvel films so far with the exception of Iron Man, the villain remains its weakest point. For the second film running, I find Loki a totally unremarkable villain - sure he sneers a lot and has that sinister smile but he pales in comparison with the brilliant Obadiah Stane.

The action sequences are rich and vivid and in many ways, they are exactly what you would have hoped for when you walk into a post-Transformers era summer blockbuster (not a slight against the film) and is only made richer by the quirky interactions among the characters from The Avengers. There are several moments of intense action that is punctuated by moments of laugh-out-loud hilarity that will tickle your funny bone and almost all of them involve The Hulk. Speaking of The Hulk, I have to say that while I was unconvinced of the casting of Ruffalo before this, I have to say that in my books, Ruffalo is Bruce Banner! Ruffalo portrays Banner with a reserved quiet confidence about him as opposed to Norton's version where you feel that Banner can almost double off as a CIA agent if he weren't a 'Stephen Hawking' beautiful mind. I feel that Whedon is the only director so far who has brought both Hulk and Banner to 'life' on the big screen.

I said before I watched the film that my main complain about the trailers and teasers was the fact that The Avengers has been made to look like a two and a half hour WWE wrestling programme and it has almost turned out to be exactly that. I am not sure how The Avengers 2 will play out but based on how The Avengers ended, we can only assume that it will be destruction on a larger scale and we know how Transformers fared when it followed that approach.

As a film on a whole, it still fares lower below Iron Man but without a shadow of a doubt, this film has the most entertainment value among all of the Marvel films so far. The Avengers get a 7/10.

PS: Perhaps I am the only one but I didn't want to put it in my review because I didn't want to be called a troll but the first forty minutes or so totally bored the shit out of me and I only started to care the moment Iron Man, Captain and Thor had their first encounter but yeah, there you go...

This review has put to words some of my thoughts in a more eloquent manner:

Back from watching.

Like Firefly & Dollhouse, Joss Whedon took his time to really do what he always did before - takes time to build the story and it can be a bore. I always felt he should stick to writing instead of directing... not that I do not love his work, it is just him to take his time to build the momentum... but then, I always believe Avengers is always this way even in comics.

For me, its an enjoyable movie. There are some good moments and some stale ones. When all the characters come into play, it works pretty alright to me. And Agent Coulson is finally a character we can care about. Special effects is same like others and when Hulk comes into play - everything works,

Overall:- 3.5 out of 5. Fans will like it a lot...

P/S:- End credits - a familiar face that I can't wait and hope a sequel will focus on...

Watched it just now. I think this is made remarkably good, relatively speaking. I don't think there is any other movie with so many heroes that works as good as this.
I think there are enough character development for a movie with this many heroes, at least, they don't suddenly come together and then proceed to some battle.

1) There hasn't been any other movies with this many heroes together?
2) Character development? They have had feature length Monday Night Raw episodes, oh sorry, Marvel films for character development prior to this match. In fact, the first hour of the film basically serves as an extended preview to the Wrestlemania main event.

Why? The Avengers doesn't deserve it anymore than Avatar does. Both are formulaic, both bring nothing new to the table, both are pretty damn fun.

Harsh on Avatar to be honest. It brought 3D to the fore as a means for serious storytelling. No Avatar, no Hugo.

Does the local version have the same features as featured in the US release i.e. the commentary and Disney Second Feature feature?
