It's a fun movie and nothing beyond that. Like the other Marvel feature (bar Ang Lee's Hulk), it is pretty much dumb and no nutritional value. Which isn't a bad thing, of course. But like the Iron Man, Thor, and The Incredible Hulk movies, it is in the end a pedestrian, by the numbers affair, with nary a director's unique flair or stamp in sight. So someone tell me, what is a Whedon's touch? Sorry but I don't see it. I do like his tendency to punctuate cliched scenes with humour though. It's cheap, but effective.

First 20 or 30 minutes were good, where they reintroduce all the heroes. After that it's simply pinging back and forth how these heroes can't trust each other and can't work together. This took up way too much time when it should've been resolved sooner. After all the character development on show is basically just banter between the heroes, and they turn boring after a while. Iron man is all jokes. Hulk is all fun. Thor is pretty serious. Capt America is dead serious all the time. That's all the character development. Oh and Hawkeye is wasted as he spends 3/4 of the movie being a robot. As for Black Widow, what a babe, that's all I can say about her. As in Thor, Loki remains an underwhelming villain.

The last 40 or so minutes are all action. Fast and furious but cleanly shot and edited unlike Transformers, it is pretty fun. Goes without saying that the special effects are great.

Special note on GSC 1 Utama Hall 3 (digital 2D). The picture is simply fabulous. Very clear and bright, exactly how it was intended to be seen. I've seen a fair share of movies in digital 2D and this is by far the best. Maybe they did something recently? Because it even beats the IMAX screen in Sunway pyramid.

If the Spidy movie does well and continue to do well... Sony will not release the rights.... same thing with FOX not releasing X-Men and Fantastic 4.... shame... I wanted Beast to join the Avengers.... Another Scientist joining Banner/Tony... so, no Henry McCoy.... but at least there should be a Henry Pym a.k.a AntMan/GiantMan
