To be fair no one else is doing it or necessarily has the capacity to fulfill that ambition. He's obviously scarred with the destruction of his planet so makes it a lifelong ambition to prevent such thing from happening again. I dont agree with his method but I can relate and understand his intent. Sometimes you have to be bad for the greater good. I expected him to be this generic villain but he turned out to be some sort of extreme eco activist with godlike powers.
