I am not sure how many of you like to view photo in 16:9 ratio aspect, however myself like this ratio. (I almost bought Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX2 because of 16:9 ratio)

Since F31fd cant capture 16:9 photo, so i need to DIY to make myself happy.

In order to help myself to composite 16:9 photo, i have added 2 black side bars on LCD screen tongue.gif

Then i will use photoshop action to do the batch processing to crop all photo taken to 16:9.

Here are the results:

not balance composition? you meant the object must put in center?

I prefer rule of third concept which meant avoid put the object at the middle.

some of them are blurred due to hand shake, wish F31fd got IS tongue.gif

Tonight got to stay back in office to give presentation to night shift engineer. While waiting for engineers to come, saw this nice sunset from my office window.

I have used photoshop to crop the photo from 4:3 to 16:9 ratio aspect.

Just back from Langkawi and the weather were suck for past 1 week.

cloudy, raining and cable car closed for maintenance

here are some of the langkawi photos with HDR effect.

all photos are combined with 3 different EV (EV -5, EV 0, EV +5) by using Photomatix and after that used photoshop to adjust the level and color hue.

This is my 1st time to create HDR photo, please comment & help me to improve.

I do like the shots you have taken. You seen to be able to take great shots with a PnS camera. notworthy.gif

For all your non-HDR F31d shots, besides cropping or resizing, did you do any colour/brightness/contrast correction, noise reduction, or any image editing? Or are the displayed photos unedited? whistling.gif

The reason I ask is is because some of the colours you have captured are really nice.

i am using standard.

the most important is to make sure the initial photo you take must be exposed properly.

then when you adjust the level, it helps to bring up the colors as well.

HDRi (High Dynamic Range imaging) is a set of techniques that allow a far greater dynamic range of exposures (i.e. a large range of values between light and dark areas) than normal digital imaging techniques. The intention of HDRI is to accurately represent the wide range of intensity levels found in real scenes ranging from direct sunlight to the deepest shadows.

See more info here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High_dynamic_range_imaging

See many great sample here:

ok.. try my best to describe more here. hope you understand my explaination tongue.gif

1) mount your camera on your tripod

2) make use of your camera self timer because when you press the shutter will contribute shake and caused your photos misalign.

3) take few photos with different exposure ( EV -2, EV -1, EV 0, EV +1 & EV +2 total of 5 shots)

4) use a software called "photomatix" to combine all these photos into HDR photo.

See here for how to use photomatix: http://www.vanilladays.com/hdr-guide/

5) after that, use photoshop to adjust level and color saturation if you want.

That's all nod.gif

Your camera performs very well even at ISO 1600 where you took the Playful Boy picture.

thanks for your compliment. for the grasshopper, even i touched it, it also wouldn't run. In fact this little guy stay at this plant since morning until evening plus many leaves missing (kena makan already blush.gif )

when see at full size, actually ISO1600 got quite a lot of noise especially at the shadow area.

i think as long as avoid shadows at ISO1600, the photo will look less noisy smile.gif

A fine example of a guy who knows whats he's doing. I always believe it's not the equipment, it's when and how you shot it. Outstanding!!
I bought a F40fd because I cant find the F31fd (plus whis one a bit smaller too). Plus I think I dont really need the manual control since I'm an absolute rookie. I really need to go out more and shoot goddamnit!!!

If you can give me some pointers on how to extract the max out of my F40fd I'll be eternally grateful. Worth nothing that the f40fd is my first ever digicam biggrin.gif

Today me and yAu yAu went to Shah Alam for photo shooting. We have chosen Shah Alam famous mosque and shooting from Shah Alarm Lake. Actually we want to shoot sunset but today was raining and quite cloudy. Besides shooting with our DSLR, I didn't forget this little monster.

So, this HDR photo was taken by Fuji F31fd and was merged with 3 different exposures (-2, 0, +2) by Photomatix.

Today I had a late evening conference call in the office. As I was looking out the window on my right, there's this very nice sunset. Without hesitation, I took out my F31fd to capture this moment.

This photo taken while my nephew playing my Nintendo DS Taiko no Tatsujin DS. I have applied Orton effect and desaturated the color (-30) to get this effect.

earthkid, orenzai: Thanks for your comments.

I am totally agree with you regarding the Shah Alam Mosque, the picture taken just right after a shower, the scenery and building looks quite dull smile.gif

ok some tips that i read from the DCM malaysia last month issue...
they say that take the picture during the evening...
just before the sky turns all dark and when the lights are turned on...
so i guess that will be about 7 smth at your place?
but sincei dont stay at shah alam i dunno...
must be very precise... 20minutes gave drastic changes to the pics... smile.gif
