QUOTE(Jayi @ May 25 2013, 12:47 AM) welcome to ump Yes me and Clon12 but we both are SPM 2012 batch and Mechanical students. But just in case you need any enquiries, just feel free to ask here or pm , dont shy shy QUOTE(O.CModderz @ May 25 2013, 01:31 AM) Thanks Glad to know that there are fellow SPM 2012 leavers heading there, but you guys are heading over to Pekan campus right? I think he mentioned wrongly, we are 2011 SPM leavers. We are currently in our first year and by the time you all (2012 SPM leavers) we became second year.

QUOTE(O.CModderz @ May 25 2013, 06:36 PM) Aww...on the plus side, we might even meet during the suai kenal session We definitely won't During your sem 0 we are on our 10 weeks semester break. We finished our exam on 17th June and will only come back to UMP on September. You guys will go through two orientation which is HSK (hari suai kenal) and Minds (minggu induksi siswa) which last 2 days and 1 week respectively. Enjoy your sem 0 time with your new friends cause its the honeymoon semester where you only have few hours class per week. If you're at Gambang, lagilah tak akan nampak kita hahaha cause we are at Pekan and rarely come up to Gambang if theres no event or anything.

QUOTE(O.CModderz @ May 29 2013, 11:16 AM) CODE @Jayi @clon12 Little advice needed here, my parents insist that I should get myself a laptop when I enter the campus. However, after going through the syllabus for all 3 years of Diploma in CE, I found out that there might be(just guessing)usage of 3d modeling software during our semester. So, here's the catch, do I need to get a laptop or just bring my rendering pc there( about the same specs as of Jayi's rig )? I would say bringing in and bringing out (when going back to kampung) will be a hassle to you and your family. You will probably need your laptop for presentations which requires you to bring along your own laptop so it is advisable to get one. In fact, get a good one. 2D 3D drawing programs like AutoCAD and SolidWorks will require the extra processing power. No harm done getting a laptop (suggesting that you have no financial problem)

QUOTE(O.CModderz @ May 29 2013, 08:00 PM) Hmm...That rig is gonna be 3 years old Speaking of laptop, are Lenovo's array of laptop/notebook recommended? Planning on getting the I5 version instead of I3 and how does a cpu benefit AutoCAD and SolidWorks? Threads? Cores? Clock speed? I'm not the master of tech but I recommend getting i7 instead. Like I said, the extra processing power will do good when you deal with CAD. And also get a good gaming laptop. there's a lot of games and movies that is shared in UMP through UMP Sharing (through HFS). Perhaps Jayi has better recommendation on getting which laptop. QUOTE(O.CModderz @ May 30 2013, 12:54 PM) I must say, you're right about getting an I7 since AutoCAD benefits from hyper-threading instead the shear number of cores I think I'll stick with my pc since getting a gaming laptop is just extra paper weight for me. Btw, do you by any chance know anyone that applies direct entry into UMP (eg. Diploma programs) ? Thats up to you by sem 1 you will see how laptop conveniently suits your uni life. Nope, not any from Civil I would say. We are not so close with gambang seniors (I know only a handful amount because they are our helpful facilitator during our HSK and MINDS). You intend to continue in UMP?

QUOTE(O.CModderz @ May 31 2013, 12:16 AM) As a matter of fact, I do. Since UPU offered me with diploma in civil engineering at UMP. Very well then. This year they released a new system whereby final year diplomas can get a direct entry right after you finished the internship. So while others are waiting for UPU and enroll in Sept (degree), you are already studying your degree syllabus in February. But if I'm not mistaken you are not allowed to do another UPU application if you chose this. Not very sure with this but its written in the announcement that way. We are seeing how our seniors deal with this first since they are the first batch.
