Willian claims to still be living the dream at Chelsea, which suggests that he will turn a deaf ear to reported interest from Manchester United and Barcelona.

The Brazil international is enjoying his most productive season at Stamford Bridge to date, netting 14 times across all competitions and providing seven assists.

He appears to be getting better with age, with the Samba star set to turn 30 in August.

United and Barcelona are said to be eager to buy into experience and talent, with a summer move mooted, but Willian has offered no indication that he is looking for a way out of west London.

Amid the mounting transfer talk, he told the Daily Mail: “I like the Premier League. I like Chelsea. My dream was to come here to play for Chelsea so it's a dream come true.

“For me the Premier League is the best league in the world. And London is a great city. My family love to live here. After Brazil, London is my favourite city. I love to live here.

“I did the best choice by joining Chelsea because I have already won two Premier Leagues and a League Cup in five years.”

While Willian has impressed this season, Chelsea have struggled as a collective.

A tame defence of their Premier League crown has been offered, while they have also come up short in the Carabao Cup and Champions League.

Willian is unable to explain the regression, but does feel that luck has deserted the Blues.

He said: “This season has been difficult because we have lost a lot of points, especially at home. That is why we are in this position now.

“There's no reason why. It's football. We have been unlucky. We are doing the exact same job as we did last season. But football is like that. For example, we were in control during the last game against West Ham and could have won 4-1 or 4-0 but we drew.”

He added on his own form and contribution: “My performances have been good but not enough. When we started the season I was playing games then I went to the bench and now I'm back starting again. For me it has been good.

“We are Chelsea. We always want to win titles but of course we have to win the FA Cup to finish the season well. If we win this title it will not make up for this season. I think our target was to stay in the top four and we are fifth. The only title we can win is the FA Cup so we go for that. Next season we will be back stronger to try to win again.”

Danny Drinkwater may seek move after frustrating season at Chelsea


Danny Drinkwater is growing frustrated at his bit-part role at Chelsea and will consider his future at the end of the season after finding opportunities increasingly limited since his arrival from Leicester last summer.

The England midfielder was bought for £35m on deadline day in August having made clear his desire to move south – he had even submitted a transfer request to force through the deal – only to succumb to a calf injury on his arrival. He was unable to play at all until the end of October and, having endured other niggling injuries and illness in the period since, has made only five Premier League starts.

His last appearance came in the defeat at Manchester City more than five weeks ago and N’Golo Kanté, Cesc Fàbregas and Tiémoué Bakayoko are ahead of the 28-year-old in Antonio Conte’s pecking order.

He is expected to depart Chelsea in the summer after a frustrating and acrimonious second season in charge and Drinkwater, who has fallen out of England contention, is expected to make a decision on his future once the identity of the next manager is clear.

Regardless of that appointment, the club’s recruitment department is already discussing targets and sales for next season, with changes expected in midfield. There have been suggestions in France of strong interest in Nice’s Jean Michaël Seri, who came close to joining Barcelona last year. The Ivory Coast midfielder, 26, would cost a similar fee to that paid for Drinkwater.

Fàbregas will enter the final 12 months of his contract this summer, while there is tentative interest from Monaco in re-signing Bakayoko, though that could yet prove a difficult deal to conclude, despite the France international having struggled to make much of an impact over his first season in England. Chelsea still consider the 23-year-old, for whom they paid around £40m, a player of huge potential.

Drinkwater, who had arrived hoping to re-establish his Premier League-winning midfield partnership with Kanté, may still see better prospects of regular first-team football elsewhere. That combination with the Frenchman has been used from the start only six times in all competitions, with Conte’s criticisms of the hierarchy’s transfer business last summer having prompted suggestions he had not prioritised the Englishman’s signing.

Thibaut Courtois has one year left on his Chelsea contract, and while he’s maintained that he has no problem playing for the Blues next season as well, he’s been less positive about actually signing an extension. What he wants above all is clarity about his future, whether that means staying or leaving.

With little in the way of rumors of an extension, it’s perhaps unsurprising that the Italian Transfer Oracle, Gianluca Di Marzio is voting YES on Courtoexit, claiming that Chelsea “must sell” the goalkeeper or risk losing him for nothing (well, duh). The Blues “definitely broke off negotiations” with the 26-year-old at some point, which would match the aforementioned lack of transfer rumors.

But why is Di Marzio talking about this in the first place? Apparently the “first name” on Chelsea’s list of replacements is AS Roma’s bearded wonder, Alisson. And we’re talking a proper beard, not the Loris Karius-kind, thankfully.

The Alisson-to-Chelsea rumor is only part of Di Marzio’s gander at the goalkeeping situation in the Italian capital, as Roma are apparently wanting to sign Udinese’s 21-year-old budding star Alex Meret. Ostensibly, Meret would be just a backup, but the Italy U21 international is probably good enough to make the step up and be a starter in Serie A already. He started 11 games last season while on loan at relegation-bound S.P.A.L. Meret would thus provide at least a safety option if Roma decided to (or had to) cash in on Alisson.

The 25-year-old, who’s set to backstop Brazil’s bid to atone for World Cup embarrassment four years ago, has been strongly linked with Liverpool, like so many others already have this summer. That’s just one of the many perks of making the Champions League final. Chelsea won’t even be in the competition next season, which will add another layer of difficulty to this transfer window. But if there is truly no way forward with Courtois, we will indeed need to cut our losses and find a replacement for him, and quickly. As with most of our endeavors this summer, there is little time to waste.

Stoke City may have gotten themselves relegated this season, but in terms of personal development, Kurt Zouma had himself a pretty good year on loan in the Potteries. He missed just four league games all season — two of which were against Chelsea, for which he was ineligible — and was third on the team in terms of minutes played (behind only Joe Allen and Jack Butland). He saved one of his best performances for last, even, giving Cheslea an outside chance at the top four by holding Liverpool to a goalless draw in late April.

But Zouma’s next step is unknown. Could he be the next loanee to be successfully re-integrated into the squad, be that under Maurizio Sarri or Antonio Conte or whoever else gets the job for next season? Or does he need more experience at the top level? Is being a good defender on a relegated team a good pathway into the Chelsea first team, or is he still continuing to make the same mistakes he showed during his time at the Bridge, before his injury? At least he seems to have put that ghastly knee ligament tear firmly behind him.

If Chelsea opt for the latter, interest is already gathering for the 23-year-old. According to Italian newspaper La Nazione (via Inside Futbol), Fiorentina are among the first to register an intent to take him on loan for next season.

We don’t have to go back too far to remember a loan-incident between the Blues and the Purples that left a sour taste in everyone’s mouth, and that was long before Mohamed Salah turned out to be as good as he is now. Back then, it was just a long, drawn-out saga that began with Salah refusing to extend his season-long loan deal with Fiorentina, and ended in the Serie A-side taking Chelsea to court and seeking reparations. Thankfully common sense prevailed and Chelsea did not have to pay a dime.

But an FA Cup final win over Manchester United earlier this month means the west Londoners still picked up some silverware this season and Azpilicueta believes that the club's habit of winning trophies means that they will not struggle to make big-name signings despite the lack of a place in Europe's elite competition for the coming season.

"Of course big players will still want to come to Chelsea because we win lots of silverware," Azpilicueta told Standard Sport.

"I have no doubt that the club will get a squad that can compete to win for trophies. I am sure that will happen. If the club decides that we need to get players in, I'm sure we will get the quality we want.

"It was important to win this season with a trophy. It shows we are still winners. When the results are not there, people look for something else."

Juventus paid £75.3milion for Higuain in the summer of 2016 after the former Real Madrid star enjoyed a record-breaking season at Napoli. Higuain has helped Juventus win back-to-back league titles, but the Evening Standard claim the Italians have made contact with Chelsea over a swap deal. Juventus worry Higuain is about to start declining after 23 goals in 50 appearances last season.

Chelsea have already rejected an approach from Juventus to bring Morata to the club on a two-year loan deal. Selling Higuain to Chelsea would seemingly solve the Blues’ problem of losing their No.1 striker, but the London club rarely invest heavily in players over the age of 30. There is set to be a changeover of manager at Chelsea, with Antonio Conte on the verge of being sacked. Chelsea transfer news: Star warned he risks joining Blues scrapheap
CHELSEA star Charly Musonda has been told his Blues career is in danger of being over before it has begun.

The winger had an 18-month loan at Celtic terminated a year early after just eight appearances.

Musonda was also forced to apologise to Chelsea after a social media outburst over a lack of opportunities last year.

In an Instagram post, the 21-year-old suggested his hard work and commitment were not being acknowledged.

The Belgian protege joined Chelsea's academy in 2012 from Belgian side Anderlecht.

But after a disastrous loan spell with the Scottish champions, Ajax's Belgian scout Urbain Haesert slammed Musonda.

"It is because of the entourage that chose fast money and enjoyed the praise of (ex-Belgian coach) Johan Boskamp," he said.

"He missed part of his training, it would have been better if he stayed at Anderlecht.

"Musonda has a formidable basic technique, but only used it for himself."

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte's primary concern about Musonda is his slight frame.

The Italian believes is not ready to handle the physical demands of Premier League football.

CHELSEA SET TO SWOOP FOR WINGER WITH NUMBERS LIKE HAZARD

Chelsea are interested in signing Danish international goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel.

According to Sky Sports journalist Kaveh Solhekol, Chelsea are keen on a move for the Leicester shot-stopper.

He claims that Italian giants Roma are also showing an interest in Schmeichel, after his impressive performances for Denmark at the World Cup in Russia.

Schmeichel was almost the hero for his country on Sunday, as he saved a number of penalties in their shoot-out defeat to Croatia in the last 16.

Solhekol does claim that Chelsea will only make a move for Schmeichel if Thibaut Courtois leaves the club.

Courtois has been heavily linked with a move to Spanish side Real Madrid, as he looks to move closer to his family in Spain.

The Premier League giants Chelsea are in pole position to sign Serie A club AC Milan goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma this transfer market.

According to The Daily Mirror, Chelsea are the favourites to land Donnarumma as they seek to substitute Belgium international Thibaut Courtois.

The La Liga giants Real Madrid are thought to be eyeing up a swoop for Courtois, who is interested in going back to Spain to be closer to his family.

AC Milan have been banished from European competitions for the next two campaigns, with the club now set to cash in on a host of first-team stars.

Italian duo Gianluigi Donnarumma and Leonardo Bonucci are both expected to depart from the club, with the latter being connected to Chelsea’s rivals Manchester United.

Alisson’s agent has claimed that the Chelsea and Liverpool target is fully focused on Brazil’s World Cup campaign. The 25-year-old goalkeeper has made 64 appearances for Roma since joining the Serie A outfit back in 2016 but is being heavily linked with a move to England this summer. Liverpool were favourites to sign Alisson but Chelsea have overtaken their Premier League rivals in a hotly contested transfer race, with Thibaut Courtois stalling over a new deal at Stamford Bridge.

Reports in Italy suggest that Chelsea have agreed personal terms with the Brazilian over a £100,000-a-week contract.

However, asked about Alisson’s future, his agent Ze Maria Neis told Tele Radio Stereo: ‘Nothing will happen in the next few days. ‘Alisson is 100 per cent focused on the World Cup.’

Chelsea are yet to reach an agreement with Roma over Alisson’s price, with the Italian giants demanding a fee of around €75million (£66m) for the shot-stopper. While Real Madrid remain interested in Alisson, they are unwilling to meet Roma’s valuation of the Brazil international.

The Blues are set to hold out for at least £100 million for their star midfielder this summer but are already on the look out for replacements
Paris Saint-Germain have made Chelsea midfielder N'Golo Kante their priority transfer target, with the Blues eyeing Lyon's Tanguy Ndombele as a potential replacement.

Goal understands Kante is likely to cost the Ligue 1 champions in excess of £100 million ($132m), though they could offer France international midfielder Adrien Rabiot to the Stamford Bridge outfit as part of the deal.

Either way, PSG sporting director Antero Henrique has made it his mission to bring Kante to Parc des Princes ahead of the 2018-19 campaign, and is willing to offer the former Leicester City man a weekly wage of £220,000-per-week - a £100,000 increase on his current salary in west London.

Chelsea do not want to lose one of their star turns despite missing out on Champions League football for the upcoming season and they could yet open negotiations with Kante regarding a new deal despite his current contract having another three years to run on it.

Should they fail to retain his services, then a move for Ndombele could be fast-tracked, with Chelsea one of a number of clubs to have shown an interest in the 21-year-old.

Having previously spent time out on loan at Amiens, defensive midfielder Ndombele became a regular for Lyon last season, making 50 appearances in all competitions as they secured a third-place finish in Ligue 1.

He is one of a number of players Chelsea are looking at ahead of the new season, though the confusion over their managerial situation continues to confuse matters.

Talks with CSKA Moscow over a £27m ($35.7m) move for Russia star Aleksandr Golovin are at an advanced stage, but the lack of clarity over Antonio Conte's future and his potential replacement, Maurizio Sarri, means making other signings is proving difficult.

Sarri is now expected to take the reins in west London in the next week, with the club's players due back for pre-season training in the coming days, and the former Napoli boss has already outlined a series of transfer targets, many of whom played for him during his time in Naples.

Either way, the club is set to make decisions on the futures of some of their fringe players shortly, with Danny Drinkwater likely to be one of those who is let go so as to make room for new signings.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek, however, is not for sale despite the player insisting that he needs to be playing first team football next term.

Having spent last season on loan at Crystal Palace, Loftus-Cheek has shone for England during the World Cup and is keen to speak to the club for assurances regarding his future.

Maurizio Sarri is reportedly close to finally being appointed Chelsea manger, and Inter Milan midfielder Matias Vecino is on a transfer wishlist the Italian has given to Blues owner Roman Abramovich.

According to Calciomercato (via Naveen Ullal of Sport Witness), Sarri failed in attempts to sign Vecino when he was in charge at Napoli but remains an admirer of the Uruguayan's, who Inter value at around €25-30 million (£22-26.5 million).

Calciomercato added the south-west London outfit can speed up the signing of Vecino, 26, as soon as Sarri is confirmed as their new manager.

Sarri managed the Uruguay international—who has started all four of La Celeste's matches so far at the 2018 FIFA World Cup—at Empoli back in 2014-15 when the midfielder was on a one-season loan from Fiorentina.

Vecino subsequently joined Inter last summer and made 29 appearances in Serie A in 2017-18, netting three goals and providing two assists.

He has proved to be an effective defensive midfielder who's capable of controlling the pace of a match from the middle of the park as well as keeping hold of the ball and interrupting opposition attacks.

Chelsea already have the inimitable N'Golo Kante in their engine room. But, outside of the Frenchman, they are lacking further reliability or inspiration.

Danny Drinkwater and Tiemoue Bakayoko have largely flopped at Stamford Bridge since joining last summer, while Cesc Fabregas is now 31 years old and arguably past his prime.

Vecino could help freshen up Chelsea's midfield and add further steel and craft.

Meanwhile, his previous relationship with Sarri should allow him to fit in quickly at Chelsea as they look to re-enter the Premier League's top four next term and compete again for the title.

And the ex-Birmingham stopper is interested in staying at the bet365 Stadium despite playing in the Championship.

Liverpool are another club interested in the England No.2, who is currently with the national team in Russia.

Chelsea have a number of centre-mids in N'Golo Kante, Danny Drinkwater, Cesc Fabregas and Tiemoue Bakayoko, with Marco van Ginkel, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Lewis Baker and Mario Pasalic all out on loan.

But some are expected to leave, with Drinkwater likely to leave after failing to make an impression.

Despite the uncertainty around the management, Seri has reportedly made Chelsea his priority club to join this summer.

The Gunners have also been heavily linked with the Ivorian, but the 26-year-old has no intention of joining the Emirates outfit.

Russian billionaire Abramovich has also been revealed to be the main instigator of the move.

Reports before the transfer window emerged that the oligarch was looking to take a more active role in the transfer market this summer.

Schmeichel is the best option for the Londoners as Danish shot-stopper has excellent reactions and reflexes. Liverpool also keen to sign Kasper as Reds have much more problems in backline than the Blues. Back in 2013, the highly-rated winger was snapped up by Manchester United as his obvious potential attracted widespread interest and two senior caps for England.

However, the Catalan giants have since opted to sign Malcom from Bordeaux, with the youngster moving in a £36million deal.

Chelsea priced Barcelona out of a move for Willian and have set a £62m price for the 29-year-old.

Yet Mundo Deportivo say Manchester United are willing to sign the forward with Mourinho hellbent on adding to his squad.

The 55-year-old is far from happy.

Mourinho has cut an increasingly sulky figure this pre-season, bemoaning the lack of transfer activity and the fact the majority of his United squad are on their holidays.

Willian, however, could lift the mood.

Mundo Deportivo say Barcelona are out of the running for the Chelsea winger, with Malcom solving a problem Ernesto Valverde has been keen to rectify.

United have wanted a right winger all summer with top target, Gareth Bale, primed to stay at Real Madrid.

Willian, meanwhile, lauded Mourinho 12 months ago and admitted he was grateful to the United boss.

"There were a few conversations with my agent. I worked with Mourinho and I became his friend as well," he explained to Goal.

"He likes me a lot and I like him a lot as a coach and as a person. He has put his trust in me and in my work, and I was very grateful to him.

"Manchester came to me, they talked with my agent, but nothing happened, because Chelsea would not negotiate me in any way and I'm very happy at Chelsea."

The 23-year-old’s fine performances in the World Cup continued a spell where he has caught the attention of some of Europe’s biggest clubs, especially Manchester United and Real Madrid.

That is according to Sky Sports transfer expert Dharmesh Sheth.

Vecino has been linked with Chelsea in recent weeks and a reunion with boss Maurizio Sarri.

The midfielder spent the 2014-15 season on loan at Empoli when Sarri was the manager.

Sheth says Inter are looking to sign either Bayern Munich’s Arturo Vidal or Real Madrid superstar Luka Modric.

And he says that means Vecino moving to Chelsea has become much more likely.

“They remain in talks with Inter Milan over the signing of Uruguay midfielder Matias Vecino,” Sheth told Sky Sports News on Wednesday afternoon.

“Sarri knows the player well, he managed him at Empoli of course.

“And this has just become more likely we think. It seems Inter are already looking at replacements.

“Bayern Munich’s Arturo Vidal is one, and how about this for an ambitious target?

“We are told Real Madrid’s Luka Modric, the player of the World Cup of course, is the dream signing of the summer at the San Siro for Inter.”

Sarri has made two signings since being appointed Chelsea boss last month.

He has brought in Italy midfielder Jorginho and experienced backup goalkeeper Rob Green.

“I think there is a huge chance that Butland will go back to the Premier League,” he said.

“I’m not sure who with, but this guy is a Premier League goalkeeper if ever I saw one.

“I think Jack Butland absolutely will end up in the Premier League.”

New Blues boss Maurizio Sarri is keen to bring in new players after succeeding Antonio Conte at Stamford Bridge.
