Unlocking 5X HyperTransport Link for NForce4 4X motherboard
Do you have a motherboard with NForce4 4X (revision A3 or later only), and frustrated because your HTT Link multiplier stuck at 4X (200MHz x 4 = 800MHz)?
Well, there is a way to unlock to a full 5X HTT Link. All you need is Nvidia NTune to unlock your GPU and you motherboard settings.
Here is the scenario
You find that your BIOS will not allow more than 4X HTT multipler. After logging on to Windows, you ran CPU-Z, and find the HTT Link around 800MHz. Frustrating isn't it? It actually affect system performance, e.g. you RAM SPD timing and PCI-e discrete GPU performance. So, if you can't unlock 5X HTT Link in BIOS, how in hell I am going to reach faster HTT Link?
Here how it works, first you need to install the latest NTune from Nvidia's site.
After a successful install, do these steps
1) Launch NTune and accept the license agreement of Nvidia NTune.
2) View your System Information (in NTune) by clicking the Perfomance->View System Information.
3) Make sure your NForce4 4X revision is A3 or later (A4, A5 etc...).
4) Click on the Adjust Motherboard Settings (under the same tree).
5) Click on the drop-down listbox of HTT Link, next choose 5X. If 5X isn't available, that means your motherboard can't support 5X HTT Link (probably due to the chipset revision or the motherboard limitation)
6) Click Apply to save the settings.
Next, run CPU-Z or any other motherboard tools, and you should see 1000MHz (or faster) HTT Link.
Walla~
