bootcamp is fully running on ur machine itself without booting up osx....

parallel runs inside osx side by side wif osx...

they wont stack as both r running on separate method... n u cant have both bootcamp n parallel running at the same time....

huh.gif ROFL.. sorry no offense here.

Bootcamp is just like partition magic (if you familiar in windose side) but Bootcamp also contains some other stuff like the emulator BIOS part and winxp/vista drivers for your mac machines. As for Parallels, it a virtual pc. Parallels only runs on mac.. So how can you run parallels in other platforms(winxp, vista.. etc) once you using bootcamp to boot to winxp i assume. And why on earth you want run both at the same time? Just make me laugh.. sorry about that.. biggrin.gif Btw, mind tell me what's your purpose behind? hmm.gif

I didnt mean running both of them simultaneously..
I mean the files of both programmes wont crash when both of them installed in Mac OSX..
I think my english is not so powerful to express my thoughts.. =/

Err... Parallels can use your bootcamp drive to boot that particular os. So if parallels corrupted that bootcamp partition, say goodbye to that partition brows.gif Anyway, best is install winxp/vista via parallels in its virtual hdd, but you need bigger hdd space

if in tat case, why someone would risk booting up xp via parallel from the bootcamp partition anyway?

it feels like doing something extra since parallel use a virtual hdd in osx...

Why? Because human are damn lazy... Save time and hdd space without installing winxp/vista again.

Let say you now install winxp via bootcamp, then you do not want to install winxp again via parallels. Why use Parallels? (i assume you ask that tongue.gif ) Because Human are damn lazy again. Lazy to shut down mac osx and boot to winxp, just to use some app like VB6. Get my point now? icon_idea.gif brows.gif

Guys, for me the only reason I would want to use Bootcamp is because I dont want to spend a few hundred bucks on Parallels. (though I have also already dumped Bootcamp partition, dont use Windows on my Mac anymore)

And those who bought Parallels, just forget Bootcamp, running Windows on Bootcamp sucks, poor battery life, poor heat management etc.

parallel lags if u only got 1G of ram...

i din tried on 2G, but it's still expensive tat u need to pay for the software n the ram upgrade to 2G....

but still... u wont feel the heat n the bad battery management if u r booting up to play some game or software tat u cant get in osx on the table rite??

normal xp batt on macbook when i watch anime n movie can last bout 2 - 2 1/2 hours.... isnt tat bad la...

Should have bought Parallels during PC Fair (RM199). Yet to have a chance to try it but I dont like Windows on Bootcamp.

When I used to have Windows on Bootcamp, the restarting and booting up part is already irritating enough without having to wait for XP to boot (so slow compared to OSX).

Heat is not something that I would feel, but rather the notebook itself, just dont feel right with it running hot. Battery lasting 2 to 2 half hours is considered poor for Macbooks, mine usually last at least 3 hours, with Wifi (browsing & chatting) and iTunes playing.

It is not to be said hard.. Just that, sometimes you don't have any choice. I take games for an example. How many games do port for mac? And how many games use opengl instead of directx? Now got so-called directx10.. rolleyes.gif brows.gif

For me, i would say every OS got its own purpose, whether is winxp, linux or mac os. Cheer thumbup.gif
