Being eyeing for dehumidifier too for storage purposes but not sure about the feasibility of the electricity and maintenance cost.
Current dehumidifier method is using off the shelve moisture absorber crystals and silica desiccant beads put it into a plastic storage container for small storage items. Moisture absorber crystals refills are getting more and more expensive nowadays. |

QUOTE(spreeeee @ Mar 27 2018, 05:51 PM) 190w, that's more like it. If run 24/7, the energy consumption is around RM1.63 per day. (take average rate for 500 unit/mth usage for example) The duration of auto on/off is vary depending on the relative humidity in your laundry/kitchen area and the humidity level your set on the dehumidifier. Say the dehumidifier requires 12 hours On time to maintain at 60%, thus RM1.63 / 2 = 81sen/day, 81 x 30 = RM24 per month. I'm just guessing the figures. Hopefully actual user can share some facts and data. |

It already ban in western country. I keep non food item with silica gel. As for dried food item, I use reusable vacuum sealed bag in various sizes. |

I did dehumifier system for few f&b line. It's not easy to get low RH with the dehumifier machine itself, you'll need to combine it with cold air (air con) to achieve low RH value.
Like other said, for a small space like kitchen it's better to use silica gel or add a fan blowing toward the gel for better efficiency. |

I think putting silica gel in such a room like kitchen is useless, because it is an open space, not a closet, it can't continue adsorb moisture, the most effective way is still using an active device such as aircon, dehumidifier to continue absorb moisture.I put in small airtight plastic container for my camera. True, those unit selling online one, said able to reuseable by recharging the unit, but it doesn’t absorb much and turn pick very fast and took hours to charge it to become original color. |

If using a tank alone, make sure its a big tank. If not you will be emptying the collection tank everyday, maybe even twice a dayif you open all your windows, your dehumidifier will need to work longer. why xiaomi got no dehumidifier? waiting for one from them This post has been edited by idoblu: Mar 28 2018, 09:22 PM |

Getting too small unit will not absorb enough moisture. Those Daiso pack I put in closet or bag that does not seal tight, I won't border even it change color. Just let it be for a month than take out and reheat it back. I put like almost a kg gel inside Ikea seal tight 22L container. Can last pretty long. QUOTE(aeiou228 @ Mar 29 2018, 10:15 AM) My piano came with this type of dehumidifier rod too, But I always wonder the efficiency of this rod. It uses heat to vaporize the moisture in the air, isn't it moisture is already a vapor in the air ? The rod doesn't condense the air into water nor it absorb water like silica desiccant. According to what I read long long time when search for this rod, if the temperature above ambient temperature, moist will be less in atmosphere. Just like desert. Hot and dry. Buy from Shopee ma... cheap cheap nia. Last time, I put hygrometer overnight in the air tight storage box with hippo and 1kg silica inside but I forgot the reading liao Need to search for the record. So this rod heat up the surrounding above the ambient temperature to vaporise it. Since it in closet, the moist to vaporise is much less. That's why this rod don't require high watt to run. |

Hot and dry. Actually it is not the moisture will be less in atmosphere when the temperature goes up, it is the relative humidity reduce when temperature goes up, because higher temperature, higher saturation point, hence, moisture content remain the same but vapor saturation point goes up, relative humidity goes down.So this rod heat up the surrounding above the ambient temperature to vaporise it. Since it in closet, the moist to vaporise is much less. That's why this rod don't require high watt to run. |

Pulling this thread up after 5 years. Looking for a dehumidifier for an air lock room. Finding mould starting. Hopefully more people have used the common brands like Delonghi or Firenzzi to share their reviews. Thanks! pigduck liked this post

I am unable to get the stadler form to be continously blowing on through out the night in a stable manner. Any thoughts?
